Birthplace of Guy Fawkes, UK's most notorious conspirators and present day Simbol of resistance movements - (the mustachioed masks). Very lovely city, quaint shops and restaurants. Georgian and Victorian architecture designs thought sections of the city. Recommended.

There will be many reviews about this wonderful cathedral but as you wander round this magnificent structure please visit the undercroft as this is an excellent feature in its own right detailing the previous Roman and Norman constructions on the same site.
To climb the tower, with its spectacular views over the city, is on a timed basis and you need to book in and pay an extra charge, I would recommend booking in as soon as you arrive otherwise all the times may be taken later.

We visited during a short break in York and thought it was quite interesting.

We walked up the tower to get the view from the top which I can imagine would have been better on a clearer day.

It was nice to wonder around inside and look at the internal aspects of the building, ceilings, armour, paintings etc. however we did feel the admission was a little steep given the best part of the Minster is the view from the outside, who is free of course.
