It’s quite a steep climb up to the top of the tower but the reward is a splendid view over Oxford and out to the hills beyond. You certainly want to have your camera with you!

Saturday afternoon 24th March and visited this old tower which is all that is left of the 12th century St Martin's Church.

The Tower stands 74 feet high and is situated at the crossroads of 4 roads, Cornmarket Street, Queen Street, Saint Aldates Street and High Street. On the front of the Tower is a clock face with 2 bells underneath. There are 6 bells located in the Tower.

We climbed the 99 steps of the narrow spiral staircase to the top of the Tower where we able to admire the Oxford skyline and to attempt to identify the landmarks.

There was an admission charge to climb the Tower, think it was about £2.70, which was worth it to enjoy the sights.

At the basement of the Tower is a souvenir shop and a place to book tours.

This beautiful old tower houses an amazing old clock is a must see for any visitor. Unfortunately on the day we visited the clock was stopped, but even so it did not detract from our enjoyment at seeing it. You can go up the tower for a fee of £2 but it would be difficult for anyone with walking difficulties due to all the stairs.

Great view above the city and the 2 pound entrance fee is very reasonable. Quite narrow and high spiral stairway so nothing for people with disabilities..
