Description: Chez Dominique is a family run restaurant serving French & European food. We are located on the beautiful Argyle Street just over Pulteney Bridge & our smaller dining room boasts views of Pulteney Weir when dining on our high bench tables. We are open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 & offer à la carte for lunch (12:00 - 15:00), dinner (17:30 - 21:30) & prix fixe (12:00 - 15:00 & 17:30 - 19:00). For Sunday lunch we serve our à la carte & prix fixe menus & a roast special (12:00 - 15:30) so there is always something for everyone. We open Sunday evening serving à la carte (18:00 - 21:00) & prix fixe (18:00 - 19:00). Our popular Prix Fixe menu is available at a tempting price of £14 for 2 courses & £17 for three courses. We dropped in for a fairly quick bite, as it seemed popular. This was because of the prix fixe apparently....which we were told we had missed by 5 minutes! No matter, we ordered a la carte, the venison was pretty good and tarte fine no complaints. Chips were disappointing, we guessed they were microwaved, as half were hot, half cool or actually cold. We avoided the Chateaubriand (the special) on the basis if they can't spell it, they probably can't cook it!!! (Francois Rene would have been horrified!)
Nevertheless, overall a good experience, friendly (English mainly!) staff, nice ambience, decent wine and service (and the diner is allowed to judge how much the pourboire should be). But restaurant shouldn't claim to be child-friendly AND romantic!!!!

We were a family group of 10 with very different tastes. We had the party menu which had plenty of choice for everyone .All the dishes were to a high standard and the service was friendly and helpful Just don't expect other than basic surroundings. If this was nearby we'd be there every week! Excellent value.

12 of us chose this restaurant for our annual Christmas celebration. We were not disappointed! The food, service and atmosphere were faultless. The staff were friendly and helpful. One of the party wanted a vegan option and the chef produced an alternative which was both imaginative and delicious.

We came to bath for a couple of days shopping, the first night we were recommended to eat here by our fantastic hotel, and what a superb recommendation. We had the chateaubriand which has to be one of the nicest I've ever eaten, staff are friendly and very welcoming, we had a fantastic bottle of wine to go with our meal. Book here early as only a small restaurant but you won't be dissapointed

Just read a review from the 10th - hence the ‘also’.

The Chateaubriand was the from the specials board on the Saturday we visited and it was superb. I recommend discussing the menu options with the waiters; they know what they are talking about and are enthusiastic about their business. We will be back.
