The hotel is not a hotel, it is a bar with rooms.
Don't has a frontdesk, service or elevator. You have to carry your baggage to your room for a very tiny stairs.
The hotel is located in main street and the rooms are not well isolated. The rooms are noisy.
Bath is a small town, so pretty much everything is close. But the hotel is located up in the hill, far away from the center.
The floors are old wood, so you can hear when anyone else walk in.

Hi Daiya,

I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations.

We try to be very open and clear on our website and all booking websites, with photos of our building, our rooms, our location etc. There are of course plenty of hotels within the city centre: but we are not one of them. I'm unsure how you came to the conclusion that we were? The centre is however only a 10 minute walk from us.

There is no elevator - we are only 2 floors and the stairs are a very suitable size! But again, we do not advertise that we have a lift.

We had an extremely comfortable stay here at the weekend. Great to have free parking at the back of the Hotel, and yet be within 10-15 minutes walk of the centre of Bath. Just bear - excuse the pun - in mind that it will be an uphill walk back to the hotel.

We arrived on one of the coldest weekends this year and the rooms were very adequately heated. Rustically and tastefully decorated. Great en suite with an excellent shower. Complimentary tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc in generous supply in the room.

The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and very cheerful. Took a genuine interest in the quality of one's stay. The bar has an excellent selection of gin, vodka, rum, wine and beer.

Breakfast was excellent. We were also fortunate enough to have the Sunday lunch; marvellous pork belly with apple sauce and perfect roasted vegetables. As was the roast beef. If I had to pick any fault, it would be to suggest a touch more seasoning with those lovely billowing Yorkshire puddings please. All meals were served very quickly indeed; I was highly impressed.

A very understated place to stay, and I would not hesitate to come here again.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Bear will visiting Bath. The Food was amazing & the room was perfect. I would personally like to thank the manager for helping push the car out of the carpark while snowed in. We came down for our last breakfast and he had already cleared the snow from around our car. We got home safe and sound and we will definitely visit again. We highly recommend this place and the wonderful staff. 10/10

Booked this hotel last minute as a break away and something new. It’s in a really good location with the city centre a 5/10 minute walk, but if you don’t want to walk there is a bus stop out the front which will take you straight there. Prices are good and the staff are excellent. The rooms are nice, comfy bed, good shower, coffee/tea/hot chocolate available within the room. We had free WiFi and breakfast included and the food was great with quick service. Definitely recommend this hotel for a few days away, I’d like to stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights in February. While the location, food and staff were excellent, the hotel was SO noisy! Due to old wooden floors we could hear every move made in the room next door as well as the thumping music from the bar at night and starting at 6am in the morning. Not only was it noisy, the bed was SO uncomfortable. My husband and I had 2 nights of very little sleep and left with sore necks and sore backs. We are unlikely to return to this hotel.

Hi Mrs Sullivan

Thanks for your kind words about the food and staff, it is appreciated.

Our bar opening times are well advertised on the website and booking sites - 11pm weekdays and 12am weekends. Music is turned down in the areas beneath our hotel rooms, but if you are particularly sensitive to noise, then we agree we are probably unsuitable! The first member of staff arrives on site at around 7am so I am not sure what you heard at 6am.

The comfort of mattresses is purely subjective, and we get an awful lot of comments about how comfortable they are! But we do of course apologise for your sore back - we wouldn't want any guest to leave feeling this way.
