Sunday Roast for 9 people with 12 hours notice in Central Bath? A big ask, but the Bath Brew House saved the day! We were a bit concerned about the reviews indicating inconsistent food quality, but when the Brew House confirmed our booking very late at night (thank you!), we decided to go ahead.

Bath Brew House is a few minutes walk out of the centre, towards Green Park and were flexible with timings and provided a warm welcome. Sunday roast is offered alongside a normal lunch menu. We all had solid roast for a reasonable price for Bath (£12.95) - we sampled the beef, pork, lamb and vegetarian (brie covered mushroom). The cabbage was dry and roast potatoes slightly overcooked, but the meat was good - served with carrot, parsnip, stuffing and yorkshire pudding. A little more gravy would also be welcome.

The food was not as piping hot as it could be, but was of solid quality. We were all happy with our food and mulled cider, however the vegetarian roast was on the small size (3 medium mushrooms with some brie on top...a little shortchanged)

The environment is quite hip. On a particularly cold day (snow!), this area of the pub was also surprisingly chilly even though it was near the kitchen. A round of teas, a few mulled ciders and 9 roasts came to £145.

The waitressing was friendly, but not of full restaurant standard. Still, we had a great and enjoyable lunch and would return if we needed a pub to accommodate a larger group again. Thanks Bath Brew House!

One of the worst meals ever. My 3 small leaves of globe artichoke with a few small cubes of squash dropped onto a plate with a couple of pitiful chicory leaves was probably the worst salad I have ever had. Then the fish was old. Someone else’s beef was better but really the only redeeming feature were the vegetables. It was a busy night to be fair to them. We were served before about 50 students arrived in black tie but we were their only table until after our main course. I’m sure it is a great place for a drink at the large bar, particularly for students, but otherwise I would avoid. Our waitress was nice and efficient.

On visiting this pub, the staff were friendly and accomodating the pub warm and inviting. My elderly mum ordered roast lamb which she really enjoyed, no complaint there.
However, I ordered a ploughmans, which has to be said was a disapointment. A single half slice of bread, a tiny piece of chedder, one tomato, a finger sized piece of cucumber, a dinky half apple and the final insult, margarine instead of butter, this cost £10. I would suggest in future you really need to remove this option from your menu or at least have a rethink about what is a proper westcountry ploughmans. And never, never, ever serve a ploughmans with margarine, unless undertaking a WW2 re-enactment!!
nb: I emailed the pub directly, regarding the above however no reply, I can only imagine the staff are too weak to respond, due to lack of food resulting from such small portions!!!......

Thanks for your feedback and sorry you didn't enjoy the Ploughman's. We have a new menu now and not a Ploughman's in sight.

I hope you'll give us another chance next time you're in Bath.

Many Thanks,

We had visited this pleasant hostelry several times previously for drinks, so being in the city on a Sunday we decided to try a Sunday lunch. Bath Brew House is one of the few places in Bath you can get a decent selection of craft beers. On the day of our visit they had a couple of nice IPA's on tap and several other beers. We'd booked a table and were shown to the separate restaurant area. There were some roasts on offer plus the main menu. We both had roasts; Beef and Pork respectively, with a good selection of vegetables, and Yorkshire pud'. Everything was perfectly cooked and the meats very tasty and clearly well sourced. I felt eating in the restaurant lacked a bit of atmosphere, something I hadn't felt when we'd had a drink in the bar area. The staff we fine but were a bit slow getting us our Horseradish. We would certainly return for eats and drinks again.
