Review of Stable Coffee Shop

Stable Coffee Shop
Description: Right next to Bolam Lake, near Belsay in Northumberland, The Stable Coffee Shop is a family run business with lovely food, a warm atmosphere, and extra friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble and it is popular with locals and visitors from further away. It is also a Caravan Club CL site and we would love to stay there if it wasn't only 20 minutes from home!!

We have passed the stables on numerous occasions and never stopped. However, we will be visiting more often in future!
Really friendly helpful staff. Tasty soup, pies, quiche etc. A good choice of cakes and drinks.
A charming stone building.

The car ride to the coffee shop is really picturesque through the Northumberland countryside, especially now when the autumn colours are so spectacular.
The Stable is a little oasis of old fashioned charm. The decor is rustic and very traditional, with stone walls and beams. It is quite small, seating about 30 at most, but there are benches outside for warmer visits.
We had soup, sarnies and cake and all were fresh, homemade and tasty. The cake selection is very tempting and portion sizes very generous!
I would recommend The Stable for a light lunch or coffee stop, it is lovely.
PS. Open Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon 10.30 - 4.30

Our second visit to the coffee shop, the first being several years ago. First impressions: a very clean and tidy touring caravan site next to the cafe. I use crutches and on entering the cafe I was asked if I would like a cushion to use on the hard chair. A very thoughtful gesture which I accepted. I do in fact have a fold-up cushion which I keep in the car for such use. We had toasties which were done perfectly and with, what appeared to be, proper, tasty cheese; unlike some places where they seem to use tasteless analogue cheese. It may seem a small point but most cafes seem to have teapots which leave drips and dribbles. Not here, they are quality with non-drip spouts.
Staff are attentive and friendly and although we didn't have any the cakes looked delicious; what more could you ask for.
