This is our go to place for a celebration or a couples night out. Lovely food, lovely surroundings, excellent food, excellent service. On all our previous visits we have been in the room with the Open Kitchen - which we love as we get the opportunity to watch the kitchen in action. Tonight we were in the other dining room. Lovely ambience and the food did not disappoint. I had the scallops to start - superb and my husband had the duck egg - equally good. We both had the Duck breast which was excellent. My soufflé was worth the 20 minute wait. My husband had the brioche as dessert - only slight criticism - massive portion and a little dry on top - more of the crème anglais would have resolved. Will be back again soon

I cannot award a Michelin Star but I have never given 2 thumbs up and that includes to Michelin restaurants. This is the best restaurant my wife and I have ever eaten at. Furthermore Adam Bennett is in the kitchen working his art. He also takes time to chat to customers.

Under £100 for two lunches, starters and main with wine.

The duck and accompaniments were simply exquisite. The flavours were wonderful alone and together exploded in the mouth. The technical skill, art and presentation in no way impaired flavour and texture.

There is only one problem and that is - it isn’t in my home town.

Double thumbs up to the best restaurant I have ever visited. Well done Adam. Keep setting the bar and don’t leave the kitchen like others who have rested on their laurels.

Part of a party of 6 for lunch time Saturday birthday treat. Very much an all round disappointment. As a fairly frequent fine diner this establishment is far below what would be expected of a 1 star restaurant. Poor service, left waiting, not asked if we would like more drinks, food served before the wine, poked on the nose by the waitress with the menu did not go down well for me etc etc. The biggest disappointment was the food. Just so so for all of us. Well on the up side the house wine was good. After having the 12.5% surcharge removed from the bill we all had to collect our own coats! Not sure how they got the Michelin star? Very questionable. Never again at that price.

We came here as a celebratory meal, unfortunately we could only get a table early on, so it took a while to fill up, but the decor inside was very homely. Waiting staff were friendly and explained what food you were getting and the main waiter was good at giving information/recommendations. Girl at the door who took our coats was a bit snooty, but other than that everyone was lovely.

Food and wine were delicious and there was a great choice of both. The flavours were fantastic and it was an all round great experience. Was it more than we'd usually spend on a meal out? Yes, but it was a special occasion and it was definitely worth the price.

We moved to Kenilworth last summer amd and were told about how good this restaurant is. So unsurprisingly, this was one of the first we visited. Our first time was in early September. We noticed immediately how good the staff are - friendly, attentive yet unobtrusive, and good at explaining the menu. We decided to go with the tasting menu. This was excellent - full of interesting flavours without trying to be "innovative" just for the sake of it. Full of very pleasant suprises. We were so pleased we returned only a few weeks later for a second visit, again choosing the tasting menu. We were delighted that the menu had changed a bit - there were a few different courses. Again, we enjoyed every aspect of our meal. Our third visit was in December, when we went with friends. Although we had promised them the Tasting Menu, one was not so keen on one of the ingredients in the first course and we decided to go for the a la carte menu instead. Just as delicious and another excellent dining expedience.
The restaurant has two large dining rooms and a bar area. One dining room is adjacent to the open plan kitchen, and diners can see the head chef and his team prepare the dishes. One thing which is noticeable is the calmness and high professionalism in the kitchen. There is no shouting to be heard - just calm communication between all the staff. This adds to the quality of the overall experience. Whenever the head chef catches a customer's eye, he acknowledges them with a smile and sometimes a quick exchange of words, making everyone feel welcome.
It is a real pleasure to experience a meal at the Cross. Looking forward to our next visit.
