Just popped in here for lunch.

Chose to have to the set menu for lunch (2 courses) and was pleasantly surprised!

The starters were not massive (but hey, it's a lunch deal!), but we're very nice.

Mains came quickly afterwards and were delicious ! Salmon teriyaki was perfectly cooked and the Pork Sambal was very tasty. Each came with sticky rice.

All in all, a good two course lunch for less than a tenner each.

Thank Joshua B

Went on a Friday night last winter with the missus, hadn't booked prior to visiting as didn't know which restaurant to go to. The staff were very friendly and fit us in no problem even though they were starting to get busy (the restaurant was full by the time we left, if you are visiting on a weekend I'd advise to book beforehand)

The restaurant is nicely laid out, clean and enough space for your own privacy. The food came swiftly, and was beautifully presented & tasted delicious. The cocktails were also brilliant, with a wide selection of colourful Asian themed drinks on offer.

The Oriental is in the Mailbox, at a trendy, canalside area called Brindley Place, so price wise it was quite reasonable that the bill came at around £70 for starters, mains, dessert and drinks.

We will be visiting again soon!

I had the slow cooked pork, yummy!
The margerita was excellent. The staff attentive but not intrusive. Nothing too much trouble including finding a table for one which wasn't out of the action.

We choose this restaurant as it was near our accommodation and it looked really good from the outside, it is situated in The Mailbox which is right on the canal side, on entry it you are greeted by lovely servers who are happy to accommodate you when you don't have a reservation. Our party opted for the Oriental Set Menu Special at £28.50 per person [minimum of 4 people]; which consisted of: prawn crackers with sweet chilli dip; starters (selection of our most popular starters)
vegetable spring rolls; prawn rolls;chicken satay;prawn toast;spare ribs [these were the best ribs we have ever tasted, the sauce was to die for]; with assortment of dips. 2nd course - crispy aromatic duck; Mains - chicken in teriyaki sauce (japanese); lamb kari (malaysian); beef in oyster sauce (chinese); roast duck in tamarind sauce (thai);stir fried mixed vegetables (chinese), we swapped this for a chicken thai green curry which was no trouble to the restaurant and no extra charge to us; served with steamed jasmine rice. We couldn't possible finish this so when the servers came to clear our plate they asked did we want to take it away with us, I am ashamed to say our eyes were bigger than our bellies and we said yes!! Price for 4 with a couple of rounds of drinks £160.00. Service was efficient as always, language was a bit of a problem [don't think they understood our Glaswegian accent]! Very good food, very good value for money and would go back when next in this city

Really enjoyed our visit to this lovely restaurant this lunch time. The set 2 course meal was £7.95 and the selection of starters and mains were great. Service was friendly ( they let our son eat his own lunch whiles we ordered from them) and understated. The food was beautifully presented. The only criticism was that the restaurant was very cold and the deserts were a big let down and not up to the standard of the rest of the meal.
