Lovely hotel, very charming with a clean room,
Very good breakfast choice,
Staff wonderful.
The room used as a dining room/restaurant was also charming, delightful but didn't have any background music so was totally quiet except for "eating" sounds. Not good whether dining alone or as a couple or more couples as can hear conversation too much too.
Personally I found the mattress and especially the pillows, too firm but didn't stop me enjoying a good night's sleep and I'm sure if I'd have mentioned about the pillows, they would have been changed if possible but I was having too good a time in Arundel to remember!

We just had lunch here. Wish we hadn't. Surly service. No condiments. Not asked if we wished them. Only plus - the steak was cooked to order, medium rare. My husband was asked if he wished a tab so he said yes. And the we found out why...at the end of the meal and drinks we asked to pay. The bar man (we know your name), asked for £35, husband wanted to pay by card. The card point was in reception across the way. When he got there it was £32.80. Know we all know why the bar man was disappointed we didn't pay cash! How many of your customers has he scammed like this?!. Obviously husband mentioned this to reception staff who said they would look into this!

One of the better 3* inns. Hubby & I attended a wedding at the Norfolk Arms & booked a room for the night.
Pluses:
-Really, truly friendly & helpful customer service (even when the staff were unable to help).
- Lovely, spacious bedroom (#20), with comfy American king-size bed & plush pillows. Great view over the town thru sash windows.
- Food is simple, nothing fancy, but extremely well cooked & presented.
- Room service a plus!
- Loved the history & rambling architecture.

Cons:
- A lift is absolutely needed! Our room was on the top (3 1/2 flights of stairs), and being semi-handicapped I struggled.
- No air-con in bedrooms. Our room, on top floor & facing SW, was roasting hot. The requested fan did help, but sleep still difficult.
- The worse ensuite bathroom ever! So small and narrow, that we barely could fit in it. Awful decor, dark & dingy... and just too old. And old not in a charming way. This needs sorting pronto. At £200/nite, one expects a proper sized bath/shower room nicely decorated and lit well.

Overall: A very pleasant overnight stay. Would recommend.

Hint: Room 20 is over the Ball/Event room. If not attending an event there, make sure there is no evening event the night(s) staying if in that room. The sound from the ball room is deafening!

We found all the staff at the Norfolk Arms to be extremely helpful and welcoming. We checked into our room late at night after a wedding and, when we woke up, were pleased to find it was on the top floor at the front of the building with a nice view of Arundel. It was a little stuffy but that's summer. Recently refurbished bathroom was a bonus. We were a bit late to breakfast (9.30am), also in a fairly stuffy but not unpleasant basement room and there was not much of a selection of pastries left. The cooked breakfast was fine. I'd certainly stay at the Norfolk Arms again if I'm back in Arundel.

Stayed at the Norfolk Arms on one night s business. Staff are all friendly, helpful, and overall a great experience, better than your standard type of hotel, and well worth a visit if you are in the area.
