We stayed at City Inn Leeds last weekend (16/01/10) for our third wedding anniversary and were very impressed with this hotel. Apart from the fact it's a little difficult to find if it is the first time you've been there is nothing to fault, from checking in, where the young lady was extremely helpful, finding us a map and telling us how to get around, to the bar sand restaurant staff who are all friendly, welcoming and extremely efficient.
The Sky lounge on the 13th floor has fantastic views and great service whatever time of day and the food is lovely in the a la carte restaurant.
The rooms are spacious, contemporary and comfortable with iron and board, mini bar and Imac computers, bathrooms have power showers and thick heavy bathrobes, and the rooms are serviced every day even if you are only staying two nights.
We have never had such consistently good service throughout a hotel stay before and would recommend City Inn Leeds to anyone, our thanks go to the staff who helped make our anniversary weekend the best.

This is a good hotel and meets most of my requirments

It has not achieved five stars for two reasons. First it was sold as a double room but the bed was just two singles pushed together. Second the room never got warm enough despite max heat setting (I appreciate it was cold outside but that is not a surprise in Leeds in January)

But the room was quiet and clean. The shower hot and powerful. The staff friendly and welcoming. The area quiet but close to centre. The breakfast good - but why do they have such small tables which mean there is nowhere to put the bits and pieces that come with breakfst (toast, coffee pot, butter, side plate, main plate, cup, etc)

Stayed in the City Inn on three occasions now. The key advantage is that the hotel is located adjacent to Leeds Railway Station but you do have to endure a 10 minute walk under some 19th century infrastructure (the "Arches") which may not appeal to some on a cold, dark winter's night. The option of using a taxi may be more attractive but watch out - the taxi journey should last no more than 5 minutes.

The rooms which have been allocated to me have been bright, spacious, modern & clean. The showers are better than most in city centre hotel chains I have used. The pilows are somewhat firm but I fell asleep quickly nevertheless. Apple technology in the room is quirky for a low-to-mid-budget hotel room. The TV picture is not as sharp as one would expect. The Radio sound is way above average.

Now, the City Inn has two or three cosmetic downsides to it. Firstly, there are always groups of people awaiting the 3 lifts adjacent to the Reception area: secondly, there are long lines of customers waiting to check out of the hotel in the morning: thirdly, Reception staff are on the telephone which is part of their role but, on checking in to the hotel last night, all 3 Reception staff were engaged in telphone conversations during which time a fairly large group of people had joined the queue behind me.

Would I return?
I have used most of the city centre hotels in Leeds & would conclude that the City Inn is as good as it gets - if it keeps up its reasonably high standards and irons out the queues in the Reception / Lifts area.

Short city break for two nights beginning December 2009 = Great new hotel with a lot of bang for buck. Nice modern minimalistic style, iMac in every room providing TV and services, lovely sky lounge, but cocktails can get pricey if you're there for a few (one to end the evening is recommended) ....

10 mins walk into shopping and city center, this hotel has a great location. Need to go a bit further and calling a taxi couldn't be easier. Breakfast is very good and both days we were seated in seconds and our breakfast order was with us within 10 mins. I've stayed at more expensive hotels that struggle with such basics!!

Just a word of warning about the parking ..... make sure you get a windscreen ticket from the parking attendants as the free parking looks very similar o the residents parking ..... under the arches, everything looks very similar. We only found this out the next day and were told we were lucky not to have been clamped. End of the day, check with the hotel when you arrive and you'll be fine.

Really recommend this place, a welcome new hotel in a competitive price space. Suspect the prices will rise through 2010 as it beds in, but still, great.

Stayed here on a visit to see my brother, the hotel had literally only just been built! There wasn't a proper footpath into the hotel and the car park wasn't built we had to pay to park our car in a very strange railway tunnel! The hotel itself is lovely, very clean and ultra modern. Our room was very nice, clean and the TV is a Apple IMac which was fun to play with! The mini bar was VERY expensive so we chose not to have anything. After we had been out with my brother, we enquired whether there was a bar still open (11.30pm ish) and we were told that the Sky Lounge was still open, we chose to sit outside and drank hand shaken cocktails and look at the 360 panoramic view, it was breathtaking. If you stay in this hotel, make sure you find time to go and have a fabulous cocktail looking over Leeds. We paid for B&B so the breakfast was included, it was also fantastic, freshly cooked local produce and there was a huge choice. Lots of juices and cereal to start then a "proper" full english! Overall, we would definately return, as long as it is completed!!
