“Peaceful location in stunning scenery”
Reviewed 10 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

The house was well appointed, good Wi-Fi and kitchen well equipped (although please provide some nice real glasses for wine). Also the house would benefit from a blind on the window of the kitchen door as we were very much on display to the bin men on Monday morning! It was nice to relax on the two huge sofas.
We had some lovely walks-one over the stream and turn left past the houses and follow the track up the cwm-it led to an abandoned farm. Also the old slate quarry is a must see-we walked up to the old lake at the top.
The house has a small front garden with a bench and a tiny pebbled rear area (well enclosed for a small dog)
I would suggest getting some new mattresses for the single beds and guests should be aware that the double is not a queen size.
There are lots of books and games (we didn't use them as the sun shone the whole time)
Also the bathroom is downstairs.
It was silent the whole time and we think the slate walls must be quite thick. It really suited us.
We would certainly go back and the only real downside was that we only had 3 nights. Also if you are coming from Festiniog over the mountain, the turn off to the left has no signpost to Cwmpenmachno.
Good pub in Penmachno but it closes on Mon and Tues
Thank-you for letting us use your home

“Fantastic house in a wonderful location”
Reviewed 3 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had a wonderful weekend in Cwm Penmachno. The house is lovely, comfortable and fantastically well equipped. Plenty of bedding, cleaning supplies, logs, pots, pans, knives etc etc. Excellent wi-fi. Everything you could possibly need! Highly recommended - we've already booked our next trip!

“Underwhelming and overpriced”
Reviewed 23 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

My wife and I plus two of our teenage daughters spent a week here in August.
The general impression is of a tired and grubby terrace in need of some TLC.
The garden was overgrown and the front door sticks - first impressions count!
Inside is also tired with a cracked bathroom sink and edge of bath which has an open light fitting above the shower (not safe or up to regulations). The grout around the bath was black with mould.
The kitchen units next to the cooker have peeled due to the heat from the oven and the kitchen units were sticky on top as we discovered when putting a packet on top!
Fortunately there were only two adults as wine glasses were limited to three plastic camping ones. Some of the plates and bowls are old with cracks and some essential equipment like a garlic press are absent.
We also paid an extra £25 for cleaning due to our pet dog which we found something of an insult; the picture frames were covered in dust, there were cobwebs in several places and when we moved the settee forward we found bottle caps and bits of food! I'm not sure where the cleaning money goes, let alone the extra charge.
On the plus side it is very quiet and peaceful and the bed linen was spotless. However the accommodation does not sleep six adults as the bunk beds are only suitable for children. Four adults would be a better description of the space available.
The property is considerably overpriced for what it is. We regularly stay at the Post House at Betws-y-Garmon which sleeps 8 adults, has acres of space, two bathrooms and a games room and costs only £620 a week

Thanks so much for your feedback. On this occasion it seems like our cleaner didn't do a very good job. We can only offer our sincere apologies. As it has been brought to our attention, we will of course follow it up. I would like to point out that the light fitting in the shower is a recessed shower fan and spot light not an open light fitting and is definitely up to regulation as per recent inspection. We are sorry that you didn't seem enjoy your time at the cottage when others from feedback definitely do.

“Peaceful, charming, relaxing in the heart of wales with gorgeous views”
Reviewed 24 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Plus's

Comfortable sofa's
Plenty of kitchen equipment for cooking
Good beds and pillows
Clean
Very, very quiet as no traffic!
Plenty of walking from on cottage door step.
Wifi, essential with teenagers
Loads of games, so don't need to bring any other than playing cards.
A dishwasher......so even if you don't normally use one bring some.
A separate fridge and freezer separate.

There are no draw backs to this rental, only that be very mindful for having a peaceful and relaxing time as its around 9 miles to any shop ( spar or Londis) for essentials.
The sink and draining board is very small, so to have the dishwasher was a great help.
Parking is limited directly outside the property, as the cottage is in a row of terraces, but we were fine parking at the back, although blocking a van in, we checked with the neighbour if it was ok. It wasn't a problem for us for the week.
Right at the end of a valley opposite a disused slate mine.
Lovely retreat for a week.

“Most beautiful place”

We had an amazing week staying in this lovely cottage. The location is stunning in a friendly beautiful small village. We climbed up the mountain to the disused slate mine, visited the nearby waterfalls and did the high rope course in betws y coed. Betws y Coed in only 15 mins away for the shops and has lovely walks. It was Halloween while we were there and we joined the local children's adventure club and went trick and treating and told ghost stories on the spooky bridge - everyone was so friendly.
The cottage itself is vey well equipped and warm with wifi and satellite TV- couldn't ask for more. Thank you
