We had pre-booked a table for 7.30pm in Belfast Castle but arrived there to discover only the lunch menu was available. Two of the three of us were looking forward to a steak dinner which was simply not an option and we left disappointed. We headed for the nearest restaurant we could think of which happened to be in Fortwilliam Golf Club. None of us had eaten there before but we were hungry and willing to give anywhere a try. As luck would have it it was Thursday and Thursday is steak night in Fortwilliam. We had two sirloin steaks with all the trimmings for a mere £25, both cooked as requested, one medium rare and one well done. We also had a burger with skinny fries, two desserts, two coffees and a pot of tea with the total bill coming in at just under £50 which is a lot less than we would have paid in the castle. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were pleasantly surprised and definitely intend to be back.

I played Fortwilliam with my son on Friday 4th November '16. The guy in the pro shop was pleasant and even thought we had booked a tee time and was early, he let us on straight away. I have played here a number of times and the course was in good condition. The greens were quick. Although not an overly long course, it is demanding due to some hilly fairways. The views over Belfast Lough are great. We met up with 2 five day members, John and Robin, who invited us to make up a fourball. They were good craic and welcoming. I would recommend Fortwilliam for a round of golf.

Amazing course with an inspiring layout. Loved the unusual and quirky nature of the place. Some unexpected holes, especially on the front nine.
The yardage signs were very helpful and made club choice easy.
Great 'putting green' and very friendly pro.
A must for any keen golfer!!
