Stayed here for a romantic night one Saturday night. The pluses are that the hotel has a great location inside the walls, close to Butchers gate and Waterloo St with its various bars. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it has limited free parking underneath (first come first served)
The negatives for me however was that the room was very ordinary with little in it. Yes, the bed was comfortable, it had a safe and was clean but it lacked any romantic or wow feel. I was surprised to learn they have recently redecorated the rooms as that is what I felt it needed! The room is heated by a radiator so you only get heat when the central heating is on; conversely in the summer, the only a/c would be to open the window. The bathroom was also very average.
The buffet breakfast was quite good, although some of the food had been under the heat light for too long, and again for a renovated hotel the seats were marked and stained.
Depending on when you book the room rate varies from £90-£160, and to be honest paying more than £110 is too much.
