This hotel is central to a lot of attractions. Situated right beside the famous Derry Walls in fact some of the rooms look directly onto the walls. Only a short walk from the Tower Museum, The Guildhall, Peace Bridge, Millennium Forum and of course there are lots o f shops.

Stayed here for a romantic night one Saturday night. The pluses are that the hotel has a great location inside the walls, close to Butchers gate and Waterloo St with its various bars. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it has limited free parking underneath (first come first served)
The negatives for me however was that the room was very ordinary with little in it. Yes, the bed was comfortable, it had a safe and was clean but it lacked any romantic or wow feel. I was surprised to learn they have recently redecorated the rooms as that is what I felt it needed! The room is heated by a radiator so you only get heat when the central heating is on; conversely in the summer, the only a/c would be to open the window. The bathroom was also very average.
The buffet breakfast was quite good, although some of the food had been under the heat light for too long, and again for a renovated hotel the seats were marked and stained.
Depending on when you book the room rate varies from £90-£160, and to be honest paying more than £110 is too much.

Spent a night here on a wowcher deal. Good hotel in the middle of town. All amenities within a 10 minute walk. If you are taking a car there is underground parking free but is limited. First come first served. The room was a standard hotel room like what's available all over the world. Bed bathroom couple of seats wardrobe a free safe TV etc. The bed was probably one of the most comfortable I've experienced in a hotel. A great nights sleep although we were woken a couple of times by what sounded like drunk people returning to their room. I do wish other hotel users would have more consideration for fellow guests. But unfortunately we live in a "me" society. Breakfast was very good. Dinner the evening before was reasonable but as we were on a wowcher package we had a different menu from the main menu which didn't have as much choice. Although there was an option to upgrade to a three course dinner for an extra £9.95 which we declined as we aren't big eaters. Staff all very friendly and efficient. If I were in derry again I'd probably use the hotel again. Management should consider marketing in a different fashion. Instead of going through wowcher/Groupon etc they should consider emailing previous guests with special offers thereby cutting out the middle man. I don't know what percentage wowcher takes but say for example they take 40% why not reduce the same deal by 20% and offer it to previous customers. Just a thought.

The Maldron is the only hotel inside the City Walls, in fact, my bedroom overlooked the walls. It is very clean, comfortable and every staff member I met was friendly and very helpful. A special thank you to the staff at the front desk who welcomed the large group that I was with and checked us in very quickly. It is very close to the shops, restaurants and bars. Would highly recommend to anyone staying in Derry.
