Was to be a highlight of my visit to Aberdeen to see where the Family Skene made their name & fortune but just my luck, Closed and under major renovations ! Completely surrounded by safety fencing & Summer 2017 was long gone ?? Pity but hopefully others will get to enjoy again soon ?

Provost Skene's House is closed due to the development of Marischal Square. We would advise anyone coming to the city to visit any of our venues to check our website first. It does state on our website that the house is closed at the moment. We hope you get a chance to see the house when it re-opens.

We are sorry you tried to visit Provost Skene’s House. The building was closed to visitors in 2013 to accommodate the demolition of the surrounding building and regeneration of the site. We would encourage visitors to look at our website for opening hours of our venues prior to visiting to avoid disappointment. Our website does clearly state that Provost Skene’s House is closed.

There are currently proposals to redevelop the building. We are currently awaiting the results of a building condition survey report before we can confirm the anticipated re-opening date.

Will be nice when it is eventually opened but knowing the Aberdeen Councils track record it is highly unlikely that it will meet the opening date.as the pavements around here have been announced will be delayed.
Maybe they could use the time building a wall around it as well as they seem to have lots of money to build walls.

Closed to the public for the foreseeable future whilst the city council creates its latest planning disaster all around. What is it with Aberdeen? St Nicholas House was a disaster. Now being replaced by something which will soon be as bad. Or worse. Pity no one thought to recreate the historic streets they bulldozed so mistakenly 40 years ago as us now happening all over Europe.

Interesting building and museum in the city centre. Spaces are well laid out and it's GI to explore the old house. Sons areas are narrow due to the age of the building. Historically interesting. Great cafe and friendly staff this is suitable for adults and children.
