We stayed at Elspinhope for a week in June, 2016. The location on Ettrick Water is tranquil and beautiful. It is an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding area which is scenic and full of historic interest. There are many superb walks.
The cottage itself is large, comfortable and well appointed. Waking to watch the martins flying and feeding in large numbers around the property was a delight. Sitting by the burn was another treat. Daphne herself is most friendly and helpful and has a great knowledge of the region and its history.
This is a 'get away from it all in comfort' sort of place. Idyllic and highly recommended.
We had the most relaxing week here, the cottage was well equipped and had lots of room for a family of four and a dog. Amazing all round views with the river running just outside and lots of visitors to the bird feeder. Hosts were very friendly and helpful with lots of information and knowledge of the area and there was lots of leaflets and maps in the cottage to help plan walks too. Would recommend an internet shop to stock up but kitchen had plenty of room to do this. The time went far too quickly and could have stayed longer. Fantastic place to stay and unwind and recharge your batteries.
