We had a one night stay here at the Georgian House. All guest rooms are on the uppermost floor up 4 flights of narrow stairs. If you have mobility issues or large luggage this would be difficult. Hilary and Gordon are a mature couple who have been in the B&B business quite some time. They are witty and easy conversationalists. Breakfast was delicious with home made stewed fruits. I had difficulty figuring out the shower in our room (#3). It had a shower/over combination. I ended up taking a bath so I would not splash water all over the room. If you are tall you will need to mind your head in the rooms as the rafters angle the roofline. We chose to stay in Kirkcudbright as we had read that it was a charming artist’s colony. We were disappointed as the Sunday we visited we really didn’t see much art and we could only find a choice of two restaurants open for dinner (even the chips shop was closed). Kirkcudbright is small enough to easily walk all about. We walked to the Tolbooth just across the street and saw the exhibit about the history of the town.

We found this while travelling on the West Coast and it was a lovely find. The people are very friendly, the rooms are cosy, warm clean and look lovely. The breakfast was very nice and we even had chocolate eggs as it was Easter.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a lovely classic place to stay.

We have stayed in many B&Bs in Scotland over the years and have enjoyed most of them, largely because the Scottish people (and those English who have chosen to move north) are generally so gracious. Gladstone House is one of the very best we've known. From the time Gordon opened the door, humming as he did so, we knew we were in for a good time. He and Hilary obviously enjoy having guests in their lovely home, and their warmth and humor are contagious. We were three couples traveling together, so the guest lounge was particularly inviting. Our rooms were more than comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts included lots of delicious fruit - a real treat. We were fortunate to have four days there this month and would have happily stayed longer. Kirkcudbright is a delightful town to explore, the surrounding area wonderful for walking, and Gladstone House the perfect home base.

Lovely place to stay. We were with a party staying at the selkirk arms but not enough space for us all. Room was very comfy and so quiet. Lovely lounge to sit in before we met up with the others for dinner especially as there were 3 of us so we didn't have to sit in each others bedroom.
We were made to feel very welcome

Lovely old house, full of character, and the hosts just as much! Gordon's banter is hilarious, and we had a lovely breakfast. Room was comfortable and had everything you needed, and the lounge was full of things to read and comfy chairs. Highly recommended!
