Last Monday, a friend and I stopped in for an impromptu early dinner at The Apartment. Instead of the quiet dinner we were expecting, the place full of pre-theatre diners. The staff, particularly the manager (? short hair, perfect eyeliner ?), couldn't be better. They found us space in a quiet corner and made us feel welcome despite what must've been an incredibly hectic night. The steaks were perfectly done, and the wine recommended was just what the doctor ordered. You made our night! (Hope it quieted down later ;) )

We joined another couple for dinner and drinks on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was busy but we weren't rushed and in many ways felt that we were the only ones there. We had starters of soup and hummus. If you go and white bean and mushroom is on the menu, order it! We had fish and chips and kabobs. The wine was refreshing. Everything was truly outstanding. Don't miss this gem.

European range of offerings. Well cooked. Interesting wine list. Good service.

Some way out of the city centre, but worth the effort of getting there.

For 20 years we have intermittently visited this great eatery. Last evening after another lovely pre theatre supper I felt I had to spread the word. The word is great healthy food, fantastic value, enthusiastic service, reasonable wine prices(Glass, carafe or bottle). GET THIS: pre theatre three course meal for two with a carafe of Pinot Noir (NZ no less) all for £43!!! There can be few establishments offering food of this quality delivered with such a smile!

When my friend and I arrived on a Friday lunchtime we were the only diners in the restaurant. We soon noticed that the restaurant was absolutely freezing so we asked for some heating to be switched on. The waitress produced a fan heater which didn’t give off much heat. We had to put our jackets back on . The fish and chips we ordered were nice but the pea purée was stone cold. We couldn’t wait to have a hot coffee to warm ourselves up. Another two diners arrived and they kept their jackets on too. We left after a very cold hour and a half and I can’t say I’ll be rushing back. We also paid £9.60 for parking two cars!
