This is a great walk just for the atmosphere. There is an abundance of souvenir shops but that would be typical anywhere of such historical relevance to the place you are visiting. The whiskey trail shop is worth a visit, they are very informative and gave good advice. Plenty to see and enjoy.

The Royal Mile is a magical place to wander and explore. There was so much to see, and it is a great place to spend a day!

This has got to be the most beautiful part of the city as the granite buildings make it look so appealing and historic. I love the shops and cafes as there is always something to look at and spend some money.

The street is basically a meander up to the gates of the castle. Pleasant enough for window shopping (for goods that are often overpriced in my opinion) and looking at the architecture. In the summer there are sometimes street performers and buskers adding - or detracting - to the atmosphere.

Free and good to get a feel for the older buildings.

There are so many different things to see up the mile including st giles cathedral. Pay attention all around as there are elements built into the stones, the architecture and a couple of great drinking holes inc Deacon Brodies
