Step back in time at the Cafe Royal Circle Bar, 100+ Single Malt Whiskies, some unique beers, even Tennents lager if you have worryingly trashy tastes like me! Not really into Oysters, but Scottish specialities like Haggis, Venison and Cranachan are available...there is a great sociable vibe here with a mixed clientele, friendly, knowledgeable staff and amazing Victorian stained glass and ceramic tiled decor puts you in a good friendly Scots mood! Hidden away, but lots of Edinburgians (?) know where it is!

We didn't eat here, but we did send others eating and it looked delicious. This is primarily a pub and has a great vibe. The selection of gins and whiskys is very impressive and well worth a visit.

When travelling I typically appreciate a little stop in the afternoon where I might grab a snack and a drink and this was the perfect spot to partake!

After spending some time at the National Registry, we were cutting through the alley to get back to our hotel and decided to stop in. Cafe Royal has a classic bar look with dark wood on the bar and paneling which adds to the ambiance. It was exactly what we wanted as our afternoon stop.

We ordered oysters and I got a cask ale and my wife got a gin and tonic. Everything was spot on. When it came time to order a second drink, our server Michael offered a taste of three different IPAs so that I could decide which best suited me. What a great guy! He stood and chatted a bit and we had a fabulous time!

Service was fantastic as was our snack and drinks. Top notch!

Went here with my family for a quite drink, we didn't even finish our drinks as the staff's attitude was so stuck up and we felt so unwelcome we left before we drunk our drinks.

Dear Ceri,

Thank you for the feedback, i am shocked that anyone would be made to feel this way by any of our staff. I would really like to know more about what happened that day so that we can ensure that this kind of behaviour never happens again. Fee free to call me at 01315561884.
