“Disappointed”

We used the property as a base to visit family in Kirkcaldy and had hoped to find a home from home for the future. We were aware of and accepted the parking difficulties, only being able to park close by once in the week.

The kitchen and bathroom matched the description but the rest of the property was a bit dated. Having owned a similar property in Kirkcaldy as a first home 30 years ago, the pine finish in the rooms was a reminder of those times despite the relatively recent decoration.

The major negative for us was the evidence of long term dust, particularly behind the main bedroom door, on the door panels and skirting boards (photos available for the owner). A simple lack of attention to cleaning - a thorough spring clean is needed.

Was it our home from home? Would we return? No and probably not.

We are sorry about your long-standing aversion to pine, but almost all recently modernised flats like ours include pine doors and skirting boards. We employ a professional cleaner and if you had mentioned to us the dust we had missed on the bedroom door we would have removed it immediately. You must have been very unlucky with the parking, as I hardly ever encounter this problem.

“Another excellent stay”
Reviewed 11 April 2014 for a stay in January 2014

Having stayed here last year, we decided to come back and stay here for our next trip. Everything about this place is highly recommended. The place is comfy, clean and very reasonably priced. It is close to public transport and shops. Free wifi makes it so much easier to stay in touch with family in Australia and is a added bonus. We will be back again there 2015 and can't wait to get back to our cosy place we call home.

“Great place close to everything”
Reviewed 9 July 2013 for a stay in May 2013

This is a great two bedroom upper storey flat that is close to Kirkcaldy High Street. This means close to the railway station & bus depot that allows you to travel anywhere in Scotland easily. The owner is vey easy to deal with and the flat has nearly everything you need except a can opener :-) including a blow up bed for occasional visitors. Large lounge functional kitchen and decent sized bathroom/toilet Can highly recommend this rental and will stay here again when we come back to Scotland.

“Modest Accomodation-great for families”

Stayed for three nights in April. Modest accomodation with plenty of room for the kids. Parking was street parking which made it difficult but we managed to find a spot each evening. Needs some maintenance, I.e laminate floors coming up in spots. Free wifi was nice. Average.

We are pleased you found our newly refurbished apartment in Kirkcaldy family friendly. Your comment about the laminate flooring in the living room (the other rooms are in fact carpetted) "coming up in spots" is however puzzling. On careful examination we find that the laminate flooring which was brand new just two years ago is neither coming loose nor developing spots. It may be that you are unaware that in Britain it is customary to lay laminate flooring on an insulating underlay which gives it a soft springy feel, whereas in timber rich British Columbia you may be used to thick layers of laminate fixed directly to the floor boards.

P.S. It would be appreciated if guests could discuss such matters with property owners rather than leaving inappropriate and potentially damaging feedback on public websites.

“Great location for coastal walks, shame about the sofa.”

I booked this apartment for my husband and I as we wanted to walk along the coastal paths on the east coast, from Kirkcaldy to St.Andrews, but not be isolated in the evenings, it was in a perfect position. First impressions of the apartment were of how clean everywhere was. (I am quite fussy!) The bathroom was newly renovated and there were plenty of fresh, nice white towels available. The kitchen had everything you could want, and there were basic groceries in the cupboards, (tea, coffee sugar, washpowder etc). Fresh bedding was on all beds and there were extra pillows and blankets if required. There were 2 bedrooms so we had loads of spare room to store cases etc. in. On the whole the apartment had everything we needed and more. The only negative thing I will say is that for an advertised non-smoking apartment there was an awful smell of stale smoke in the lounge, coming from the suite (maybe bought 2nd hand from a smoker?) We used the bedding off the spare beds to sit on as we felt uncomfortable sitting directly on it. I would recommend this rental, but I wouldn't recommend it to any non-smoking friends.

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay in our Holiday Apartment in Kirkcaldy, and liked its central location for exploring St Andrews and the coastal villages (as well as Edinburgh and inland attractions). Your favorable comments on the cleanliness of the apartment and the facilities provided are much appreciated. The sofa has now been thoroughly cleaned to remove the traces of cigarette smoke you mentioned.
