“Shabby and tired!”

Barras Weekend Market
Ranked #274 of 338 things to do in Glasgow
Attraction details
Reviewed 31 December 2017

This weekend market has not much to give. We simply had a stroll without caring that much if we find something interesting or not, but at a point we got tired coming across all this junk and my husband thought it was a waste of time to remain here longer.
If you take it though for what it is, perhaps you will enjoy it more.

I guess, several of these things are found out in the streets but the worst is that there is no sorting. It is like a mixture of different things that the interested party has to sort out.

We could have avoided it!

Not great to be honest but gives you a real feel of Glasgow, worth a walk down for a look in your in town.

Walking through The Barras gave us a feel for the city of Glasgow. Glasgow, a city which defines itself by its people ("People Make Glasgow"), is on display here at the Barras. A definite feeling of seeing the "real" city. Watch the open times, as The Barras is open Thursday through Sunday during the warm times, but with reduced hours the rest of the year.

Went for a look around today, mainly to visit the Vintage Flea Market and it was fare buzzing. A great wee venue for Art Deco collectables, prints, candles, jewellery, clothing. Nice and cozy inside and a great vibe. Great sounds playing. A'Challtainn eatery in there too, lots of diners!
I had a look around outside too and sure the 'old Barras,' ain't what it used to be but still good if you're after retro bits and pieces. It was a buzzy, busy place. I ❤️ It!
I bought a cheese plant for a fiver, from a wee plant shop, does those little cute succulents!
The whole area has been regenerated with great housing and amenities. I think it's a great place to visit on a sunny Autumnal afternoon.
I think the place has a lot going for it and you should visit The Helian Mary pub for a refreshment or go to Glicks for a sweetie!
Who cares if there's a fat guy shouting to buy viagra or fags, we've all got to make a living!

Was told by parents this used to be a great hotspot for hidden gems. Wrong! Stalls selling viagra, groups of sketchy, what I can only describe as addicts. Some stalls are completely overpriced!
