Normally, I find that there exists an inverse proportion of view to quality of food (ie: the better the view, the worse the food).
Thankfully, this was not the case at Crannog’s. We were seated at a lovely cozy window table with great views of the Loch. And the food was delicious and well prepared. We started with the best Cullen skink we had tasted (lots of haddock and great big chunks of potatoes with just the right touch of cream) and the duo of cold and hot smoked salmon. The quality of the salmon was superb.
Then we had the langoustine special and the lobster special, all local fare! The prices seemed on the steep side at first, until the dishes came out with extremely generous portions.

The menu offered a wide choice of seafood but I chose langoustine from the specials board. They were served as a very generous portion and were extremely tasty..The service was good and the whole experience pleasant .

We booked in advance for this restaurant and would advise this as it is very popular. Fabulous location right on the pier and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Staff friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. Would love to go again!

The food isn’t cheap, but it is extremely nice. Great views across the loch. It was the little things that let them down. I asked for a small amount of butter to accompany the bread they’d already brought to the table, this they duly did but returned with extra bread (it’s on the table... you’re paying!). The meal arrived and like the title says it was lovely, roughly 3 mouthfuls from finishing our meal the drinks finally arrived, how the hell does it take 40 minutes to open a bottle and pour a couple of glasses. This was the second visit to the restaurant as we’d enjoyed the first time a year or so ago, so when we knew we were headed back we both agreed we like to return.
A mistake we won’t repeat.

For the money the service should be outstanding. They were quick enough to bring the bill.

Dinner with friends after challenging West Highland way slog. Treated our selves. Oysters delicious.Mallaig langoustine overcooked and mushy. Maybe not as fresh as those I had in Mallaig? Friends mussels not fab. Waiter really helpful and charming. Recommend the Albarinio
