Stayed in the Chaplin Suite last night for an early birthday treat. Absolutely stunning four poster beautifully dressed with drapes and rosette. Mattress must have been changed after previous review. The most comfortable sleep ever, comfortable, giant, white marshmallow. Rooms stunning, views stunning and even better is the presentation of the food. The food tasted as good as it looked. Staff were all pleasant and I loved my stay.

Stayed: March 2018, travelled as a couple

A friendly welcome at reception sets the tone for a stay at The Newton, the rooms are warm and comfortable, although the armchairs had been replaced by dining room type chairs, The new style furniture and lighting in the conservatory restaurant is a talking point.
The food and service was very good.

Thank you for your kind review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the food & the service and we are also very pleased you liked the conservatory. It is looking very nice with our new furniture and we trust this will be a popular place to dine as we come into the summer season.

It was good to hear that your welcome on arrival was good & it is always nice to have repeat guests staying with us.
Hope you can make a return visit in the future

Best Wishes

Your first view of the Newton Hotel is impressive: the entry road passes Highland cows as you see what appears to be a large country manor. We stayed there with a tour group and were assigned to the Chaplin Suite, named after Charlie Chaplin who stayed here with his family on many occasions. The suite consisted on a bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. The sitting room reminding me of my great aunt's house, once grand, but now old and tired from the passage of time. The bed was not comfortable (ancient thin mattress). We have stayed in hundreds of hotels throughout Europe, but here I encountered a unique problem. You could not take a shower due to lack of cold water! The hot water felt like it came straight from Hades, but the cold water flow in the bath was so meager that you could not dilute the hot water enough to take a comfortable shower. We stayed there in August, so perhaps the problem has been remedied by now. We walked to the beach from the Newton Hotel, and it was beautiful. On the way we encountered a interesting sign on the hotel property (see photo). The Newton has a comfortable bar with a nice selection of beers. Our group ate dinner in the restaurant. We had just come from two weeks of eating delicious, well-seasoned meals in Alsace, so almost every meal we ate in Scotland seemed bland and unexciting. I can only surmise Scotland suffers from a chronic shortage of herbs and spices. Breakfast was typically Scottish.

Thank you for your review. There has been a number of changes since your visit last August and I am certain the shower issue has been resolved. Our food was generally well received last summer, but I feel we have improved this & feedback at present is generally very positive. There has also been work undertaken through the winter and we do feel the hotel is now providing a favourable appearance
for our guests, but we will always be looking to keep improving in the work we do & will continue to look to improve all aspects of the hotel food & service going forward

Best Wishes

Came for one night to visit friends in the area. All of the staff were lovely, helpful and extremely attentive.
The room was in the courtyard, which is single storey, and a stones throw away from the main hotel, the room was very comfortable with a huge bed and was spotlessly clean and very quiet.
We had afternoon tea in the lounge bar and dinner in the conservatory at night and the food was fabulous, large portions, very well presented. The best sticky toffee sauce I have had.
We will certainly stay here again without a doubt.

Room Tip: If you want quietness with no one above you go for the courtyard rooms

Have just returned from the Newton after one fabulous and about to book another! Since 1977 I have stayed here several times I suppose, but nothing prepared me for the positive changes made under Muthu. Firstly the décor had been redone with care and the furniture in the public areas excellent and comfortable. The bedrooms (I stayed on the Second Floor) are so comfortable with TWO armchairs!! The bathrooms have more soaps toothbrushes that I even expected and good heavy blackout curtains. The staff are first class, friendly and efficient and the Receptionist on our Friday night Checkin is a tribute to the hotel and Scotland. Charming, efficient and friendly, The staff in the conservatory are of the same high standard as the food....excellent. The Breakfasts are to order and suitable for the largest of appetites. Folk..you have to go for first class Highland hospitality in gorgeous surroundings!!

Room Tip: We stayed second floor. I hope all beds are the same!
