Literally 50m from the beach and in a nice quiet area. Pub/Restaurant at the top of the street which allows dogs into the bar area and we also had a meal in there which was quite good. The house itself has the owners living next door and they are a really nice couple and on arrival there were some homemade cup cakes and bread and the fridge had wine, beer, milk and all the bits for a cooked breakfast. Due to the time of year we were there it was a little chilly when on the beach but in the summer it would be lovely and it's a sandy beach as well. Walking into the town centre takes about 45 minutes at a leisurely stroll. As I said in the title we would happily go back or stayed on.
Stayed at the Retreat for Hogmanay and New Year with good friends and our 3 dogs . A warm welcome was made more special by the freshly made bread and cup cakes !! A beautifully home with all you need for a relaxing stay along with a great location just off the beach and river - fab for dogs and humans alike. Lovely pub at the end of the road so all in all a perfect retreat for a short stay . Thank you so much Leah and Gary for sharing your home - made a great start to 2018
I booked The Retreat for the weekend of the Ayr Gold Cup Races for ourselves and another couple. Great alternative to a hotel if attending the races, only about 15 mins away from Ayr Racecourse. We didn't arrive until late due to a flight delay but Gary was there to great us and show us around. The Retreat itself is beautifully decorated and has everything you would need, a real home away from home. Gary and Leah couldn't of been more welcoming and to arrive to a fridge stocked with traditional Scottish breakfast goodies and homemade bread was fantastic.
We had a lovely long weekend stay and the location of the house was just great! Leah and Gary were super helpful and the treats in the fridge were a great touch. Definitely recommend in the future! All the best, Natalie & family
