Great tour of a beautiful castle, formerly owned by the Kennedy dynasty. Impressive rooms and wonderful tour guide. The arms room at the entrance is very impressive.

Had a really nice day out, very well kept. Had a coffee and cake in courtyard quite expensive but enjoyable.

Parked up in maidens and walked along the beach to the castle.
Lovely scenery at the beach and grounds.

Had a cuppa at tearoom at visitor centre, but service v slow (hopefully will improve as early in the season).

That said it was a lovely walk and nice to see the grounds. Always lovely visiting here.

My wife and I decided to visit Culzean today for a light lunch and walkaround as we have done over a number of years.
The Home Farm Restaurant is undergoing renovation, but what was on offer today was awful. A long very slow moving queue for very limited choice.
No menus. Limited supply of cutlery. Queuing customers bumping into tables. Nothing in the shelves. Manually filled coffee machines. No 4G (not NTS fault) but no guest WIFI. Staff under extreme pressure trying to be positive.
The toilets in the courtyard have been refurbished to a high standard, great. In the gents there is one soap dispenser at one end of a bank of 4 sinks, useless on a practical level.
I hope the works will be completed before next weekend (Easter) otherwise Culzean will suffer bad press.
If the works have overrun then I hope there are big penalty clauses. If the works are on schedule then whoever agreed the schedule needs to take a look at their judgement.
Culzean is being marketed as a major tourist attraction for Ayrshire but what was on offer today was terrible.
The rest of the estate has had a lot of improvements done and is well worth visiting.
