We made a reservation here because of its central location. Everything in Ennis is within walking distance. The owner is very helpful. In the old Irish tradition, he has the gift of gab. He had very thoughtful comments about Britain's Brexit vote held during our stay.

The hotel itself is old and worn, but that is much of its charm. The building is filled with funky antiques. The room was immaculate. It has "continental" breakfast, but it is still all you can eat. There is plenty of variety.

The cost is so reasonable, it is a budget traveler's dream.

Affordable and fair price, you get what you pay for. They have nice cozy rooms, the beds and bathrooms were clean. I was a little bit disappointed with breakfast, but that's just a detail ;) The owner is a friendly guy, there wasn't any problem. Btw you can borrow hairdryer from him, just mentioning because someone was complaining here about not having it in the room.

We were steered to this lodge by a bartender at a nearby pub. It is a classic, old
lodge right in the heart of Ennis. The rooms are decorated in 50 -70's style but all is fresh and clean, warm and cozy. The bathroom was spotless and the room felt full of old time Irish personality, not renovated into a glass and chrome copy of most others.
The rate was unbeatable about (40eur for 2) and the owner was real and welcoming.
Sleep well **

My wife and I were originally booked into a very expensive hotel in Ennis on a Bank Holiday so we thought we were very lucky just to get a room. We were walking around the town and came upon the Banner Lodge. We could not believe the advertised price on their sign in front of the hotel. We thought if they have a room and the price is correct we will save over 60 Euros per night. Yes, I said 60 Euros !!. I phoned the number on the sign and talked to Noel, the owner. He had one room available so we booked it immediately for 3 nights, Friday, Saturday and Monday.

After returning from Berlin my wife and I checked in on Friday afternoon. Noel was there to greet us, a very friendly and helpful owner. I am basically not a complainer so I will dwell on the positives. The room was a good size and clean. The shower pressure was good and they left us plenty of towels. There was free WiFi. The sleep quality was good with no drunks outside and the mattress was comfortable. Now a few negatives which do not overpower the positives. The walls are very thin. We could hear every word of the conversations next door including a man's high frequency snoring all night long. Noel, probably in order to save money, would only turn the heat on between 6 PM and 8 PM at which time my wife and I would throw ourselves on the radiator to thaw out. End of negatives. Another positive is its location to everything.

Now the question, would we stay there again. Yes, absolutely !! Great location, friendly owner, and wonderful price for the room. One suggestion is that Noel should increase the cost per person by 5 Euros each and turn on the heat a little longer. People will still stay there.
