Attraction details
Owner description: Dublinia is one of Dublin’s top visitor attractions with three exciting exhibitions all located at the historic crossroads of Dublin. There are three exciting exhibitions; Viking Dublin and Medieval Dublin recreate the city through life size reconstructions, including a Viking house and a medieval fair while Death and Disease are also investigated. Finally unearth the city’s past at the new interactive History Hunters exhibition, visit an excavation site, and see medieval bugs under the microscope in the Lab. See Dublin from a new perspective and come away knowing more about its citizens throughout the ages!

Lots of information, displayed in a way that wasn’t boring and there was lots to look at visually. Fantastic cafe as well with delicious cakes! Definitely focused at young children mainly, but there is something for everyone

First off, I’m 46 and went to this with my wife only and we enjoyed it. It was a bit worrisome when everyone around us had kids and we thought we may have gone to a kids museum...well, yes and no. It’s certainly not a kids museum. However, it is done with kids in mind and it’s more of an tactile, visual experience than a museum. By that I mean mannequins dressed in period specific clothing. Replicas of homes and tools and boats, etc, that you can walk in and around. It was a flashback to when I was a kid and used to go to the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco - it was the same way. You can certainly imagine schools taking field trips here. That said, I learned a lot and it wasn’t a boring stare-at-paintings-and-fossil-fragments type experience. So go in being warned, but expect that it’s still fun!

This is a really interactive museum which is great for kids. It goes in to the history of the vikings and Ireland in a way that children can easily pick up on.

There are guided tours which are good because you get a bit more information and the guides are really good with kids.

Visited Dublinia with our 13 and 10 year olds. We were all brilliantly entertained for well over an hour. Well worth a visit, €25 for a family of 4.

Both kids commented on how much they enjoyed the day on the way home
