“Oasis in the city”
Reviewed 2 March 2012

Stayed at the Radisson, Galway for 2 nights at the end of Feb/start of March 2012 and very much enjoyed it. We were look after very well on arrival by Charlene who was very helpful with our room as we had a small baby with us. She organised a spacious room for us and was very obliging. To her credit, nothing was too much trouble and that seemed to be the way for all of the staff.

The hotel is in a nice quiet spot just behind the bus station and looks over the water with easy walking distance of the town centre. The staff were very friendly and obliging. We ate in the bar and found the food to be very good and that atmosphere very relaxing. Breakfast buffet was also excellent.

It's a clean, sleek, modern hotel with a high level of customer service and top class facilities.

TOH Mar 2012

Room Tip: Ask for a bay view room

Stayed on a Saturday night in this hotel. I had stayed before and have never been disappointed. The rooms are lovely and for a city centre hotel you can get a room with a view of the bay at no extra cost. It is within walking distance of Eyre Square, bus/train station, shop street, the cathedral and the Galway Weir. The beds are really comfortable and rooms are a good size. The restaurant is lovely too. Check in and out was quick and friendly. There is car parking at 5euro per stay. Dont forget to get your ticket validated at reception for the car park. Buffet breakfast is just delicious with so much choice..... and at the weekend is available up until 11am.

Room Tip: ask for a room with a view over the bay

The Radisson Blu is a clean, modern hotel 2 minutes from the train and bus station and 10 minutes from the Quay St. pedestrian mall. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The buffet breakfasts are sumptuous with almost everything you could want from fruit and cereals to full Irish. They will even prepare eggs for you to your liking. Try to get a B&B rate so breakfast is included, a bit pricey if you are paying for it separately. The only downside to the Radisson is the lobby and bar. The lobby is not conducive to sitting and chatting or receiving guests and the bar is over-crowded and has poor lighting. Service is great, the staff will go out of their way to get you directions, answer questions or respond to requests. I have stayed before and will stay again.

My first time to stay at Raddison Blu Galway- although have been in the hotel for lunch/drinks several times. We stayed in 353 on 24th Feb. Stayed with my husband and 4 year old son. 353 is a 'standard' room -but it is lovely. We had asked for a separate bed for our child - but it didn't arrive. That wasn't a problem as the bed in the room is big enough for 2 x families. :-). Check in - efficient and pleasant. We went for a swim almost immediately. The pool was lovely and quiet...staffed by extremely pleasant people and nothing was any trouble. A minor quibble....the water in the pool was a little cold. The small mans teeth were chattering in his head when I took him out after about an hour...he didn't mind...he loves the water. We had room service - which was very good - watched a Movie (Smurfs) which was supposed to be free - but appeared on our statement as €4.50.....[When I explained that it shows up as free to the gentleman at reception - he immediately refunded the charge]. Breakfast Buffet was excellent quality. I'm not a huge fan of buffet for breakfast - there is a lot of up and down...but the food was lovely - and huge variety. The hotel is in a great location....short stroll into town (Eyre Sq/Shop St). Top marks to the company and staff - a great job. Well done.

Room Tip: The hotel is in the city centre...so views are never going to be spectacular....we stayed in a stand...
