“Great Time at this hotel”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

Arrived in westport for a weekend break with my wife and had no problem finding this hotel. Check in was brisk with no problem's. we had a room on the first floor overlooking the front car park near the entrance to the hotel. Room was average size with lovely comfy bed. Flat screen tv was a little small about 20" but was adequete for us. The room was nice and warm. The bar area in the hotel is nice with a very large seating area with projector tv which was great for watching football etc. Only thing missing at night was some music even if it were someone playing a piano. We walked into westport town for the entertainment. The best place for a session is Bohan's bar on the octogon where they have a great night only on Saturday's its a free for all with ceili music and whoever feels like singing can join in from wherever they are seated. The food at the hotel westport was fine. My wife is very fussy and for the first time in a long while finished all the course's of the dinner and had great praise for the food. Service was good and with a smile. No noise at night time so we had two great nights sleep. Breakfast was served up until 11am which was good if you wanted to lie in for a little while. Overall we had a great time at this hotel and will return again at a later date.

Room Tip: We had room 502 which was fine with no noise from outside

Stayed in this four star hotel a few weeks ago. Everything about it was good from the nice welcome at reception until we checked out. The hotel is situated a short distance from the town and has ample parking spaces. It is about a ten minute pleasant walk to the Octagon in the town centre. The room we were allocated was very well appointed, spacious and even had a balcony. It had all the usual facilities: kettel, tea or coffee, multi channel TV, trouser press etc. It also had a bath and a shower over bath.

We booked a weekend to include dinner on one night. The dinner was excellent and the service was just superb. The hotel has it's own leisure centre which is free to guests. This facility has a swimming pool, steam room etc. The breakfast was also very good and we experienced no delays in service. This location is ideal for walkers and cyclists as the new "Greenway" extends from Westport town to Achill. The Greenway must be about 40 kms long and is exclusive to walkers and cyclists. Bicycles can be hired in 3 locations along the route making it suitable for the fit and not so fit. All in all a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Some rooms are not airconditioned so look for one that is, if staying there in the Summer months.

We got a good rate for the hotel for 2 nights accommodation via the internet. There was a good bit of work going on in the hotel and minimal staff on duty. We were told breakfast finished at 11am but when we went to get breakfast it was over at 10am and we were too late (it is 11 some weekends?) The room was clean and tidy although the bathroom could do with a bit of a facelift. We booked a premier room but to be honest it isnt worth the extra money. Dinner was only ok and breakfast the following morning was very mediocre. There was only 2 floor straff staff on who were run ragged. It was ok but would try somewhere else next time.

We stayed here recently for 2 nights for my mothers birthday. From beginning to end we had a fantastic time and could not fault one single thing.
Staff were excellant from reception to accommodation, and they could not do enough to help us. All rooms were very comfortable and stylish. We dined in the bar on Friday night and enjoyed fabulous cocktails then we dined in the restaurant on Saturday night - clean plates each night as the food was delicious. Everyone in the group enjoyed their stay especially my mother (the birthday girl)
My many thanks to all the staff for making it a wonderful weekend. We will definitly return again.

Hotel Westport have a January/February over 55 offer each year with no single supplement! The welcome is genuine, with many staff remembering names of repeat customers. We were greeted by all as "family" members and enjoyed the proximity of the town to the hotel which has adequate car parking and a good leisure centre.Could have done with more in house entertainment at night in the bar - only one night's dancing!!
Yet, thank you to KK in the bar, Deirdre, Zunge in the dining room, and management Colette & Stephen. Reception was always helpful. Food was good every night though breakfast was slow at times. Westport is a good shopping town and ideal for long walks. Everyone greets fellow walkers!!! We will come back again.
