“Enjoyable Break”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2012

The hotel staff lacked nothing in hospitality skills; they were great. The hotel itself is pleasant but a little tired looking. The room was okay, no view which was disappointing. Good menus and meals were very eatable, my compliments there. The swimming pool looked small which deterred me, the steam room & sauna were basic but did the job. Jacuzzi was enjoyable. We booked through groupon which made it great value.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the front of the hotel.

i lived in sligo many years ago .so when i got a cheap deal with groupon. i decided to go back to see how the town had changed.so myself and my friend went sun to tues. we were not expecting much due to bad reviews.we got settled in checked hotel book.bar food till 9.30.but not on sun nite.finishes at 9pm.breakfast served till 10am daily including weekends..we usually stay in 4 or 5 star hotels.but we were suprised.the staff were all friendly but especially in restaurant.the breakfast is totally self service .did find this strange..which i hadnt come accross before..the hotel itself has lovley features, open fires.comfy modern design sofas.just the colours are dated on the walls everywhere.very early 90s .its a very clean hotel.just needs a bit of tlc to bring it up to date..there was alot of dark wood.and i mean alot.which you dont see much of now in new hotels ..my friend loved the old world feel.of the hotel.alot of people coming and going from lesuire centre.my room was across from smokin outdoor area .so noisy in mornin.we had a twin room, the beds were comfy, nice white duvets.just the colour in room needs updating, bathroom needs a update also..but was spotless..taught i was in faulty towers. as the same member of staff kept turning up doing every job. she served us drinks, at night in bar .sat us for breakfast.and dinner in restaurant, she was just fab.so when i got chatting to her to compliment her. found out she was the boss..couldnt believe it..alot of owners would tink this was beneath them.but catherine said this was her family hotel as..alot of her staff were out sick..so she was there doing what had to be done.i watched her she stopped to chat to her guests and fixed any complaints they had..she told me there doing up the hotel starting with lobbey .which will make a huge difference..so our experience of this hotel was really good.we were advised by the staff to leave our car at hotel and walk to shops as pay parking in operation all over town ..shops not that far away..we shopped til we dropped....came back sat at lovley fire and relaxed and people watched had a drink and a chat and a laugh with other returning guests.

Room Tip: dont take a room near the lift or the outdoor smoking room...

We stayed at this hotel for two nights with a groupon voucher and from the minute we walked into our bedroom we felt like groupon customers. Our room was at the back of the hotel with a train platform out side the window and overgrown trees obstructing much needed light. The room was dated and had a double bed even though we had requested a twin room as we had our six year old daughter. The whole hotel needs a good refurbishment which is old and dated and the stair carpets need changed or a good shampoo. The pool area was grotty looking and the tiles definitely need changed or the grouting cleaned. There was not much flexibility in the hotel in that we tried to order room service at 6pm as our daughter was very tired on the first night but were told they had stopped doing it. You can hear the next rooms noise levels and we were indeed kept awake the second night by some drunken yob beyond the control of the staff albeit. We would not stay at this hotel again, however on the plus side, its location is superb as everywhere in Sligo city is within walking distance.

Got this apart of a Group on offer for 2 nights which including dinner and breakfast. Found the hotel easy enough which was a bonus. And on first impression I thought it was really nice. Lobby is nice with great period furniture. Staff are very helpful and were really nice. Only thing that was weird about the place was we were on the 5th floor at level 2.I know I know. I think they had an extension or something. Now when we got there tv didnt work so they upgraded us to a bigger room - WELL WORTH IT! Even before we did we of course like always jumped into the bed and these were brilliant. You just soaked right into the material. It felt like home. Was very impressed. You are minutes away from the town, tescos and fuel stations. So its all good. Food in the hotel was maybe a 2 out of 5. Not that bothered. However from talking to all the locals they said about a little bar across the road from us Donaghys or Coach lane which is upstairs. Brilliant! Really enjoyed it and its only 3minutes from the hotel. Over all was impressed - we really liked the little get away and if I ever wanted to go to Sligo again I would stay there - Hope you too as well

Myself and a group of friends stayed here for a hen party last October. I must say from the first girl I met at the end of the phone to the girl that checked us out everyone was lovely and couldn't do enough for us. I arrived late on the Friday night and the night manager made sure there was a taxi waiting for me when I had left my luggage in the room, Breakfast hit the spot both mornings and we had dinner as a group on the Saturday inght and had a private area all to ourselves.
They even organised a taxi driver who was like our chauffeur in sligo for the weekend!!
Great getaway with the girls and within walking distance from the town!
