I am on a food tour of Dublin D4 at the moment. Eating out once or twice in good places a fortnight. I really enjoyed this experience. I had a salmon starter with a monkfish special for the main. The food isnt pretensious here, everything on the plate was perfectly cooked and presentation was beautiful. I will be back there again for sure. The decor is fantastic and the atmosphere is good thanks to the bar and the friendly staff. The menu has some nice dishes and alot of the clientele looked like regulars with the staff clearly identifying with many of the patrons. Top spot
We had the most wonderful valentines dinner, we were served first class food and wine by the wonderful team at Matt the Thrashers.
Everyone we encountered was extremely professional, helpful and courteous.
To top it all off we won the evening on a Facebook competition. It was a wonderful night and I can't recommend this venue highly enough. We are very much looking forward to our next meal at Matt the Thrashers.
Driving to kilare on the motorws;
Driving to Kildare and needing some refreshment we drove to Matt the Trasher the restaurant was not busy at all but the Lady that greeted us was very helpful and advised me to have the special of Baked Cod with baby potatoes and mixed veg. my husband had the chicken curry and he also enjoy his meal.
There is a different Matt the Thrasher premises on the Limerick road I believe,
& it seems this premises in Dublin, is getting their reviews, which is a shame.
Tripadvisor should remove the unwarranted comments from this profile.
Because.This gastro pub is a real treat!!
Finest of fresh fish & seafood served, I have dined here many times & always enjoyed the atmosphere, the service is very professional & efficient
Tripadvisor in my opinion is about the good things a location has to offer , so on this occasion they have it wrong I'm afraid.
I am not affiliated to this business in any way,
Stopped here with a friend on the road to the West. What a lovely place. The very charming owner invited us to sit at a nice table by the fire, and told us the specials. We chose to have the seafood gratin which was delicious. Just perfect with a chilled glass of Sauvignon blanc. We really enjoyed our visit. Our Polish waitress was friendly and efficient.
I have seen the negative comments posted here, but I think that the owner adds something special to this place, he really seems to care.
Stopped here on way to Kerry and it's amazing how things change. This place used to be so good but no. Mushroom soup tasted of nothing literally no flavour at all, very odd. My wife got a prawn and potato tart with a wine sauce. Served in I think a scallop shell ( these used to be ashtrays one time) anyway it didn't have any flavour other than cheap white wine and my prawn sambo was nothing special. Honestly a real let down. The staff weren't really interested in talking to us in fact she told us the type of soup over her shoulder as she walked away and there was only 2 other tables at the time so not busy. Just overpriced poor stuff. We decided to get our coffee from a garage up the road. We had to go. It's such a shame the place used to be really good, I dint know what happened.
