A small but perfectly formed attraction, the steam engines are beautiful. We spent a couple of hours looking at the engines and a Meccano railway display in one of the sheds. The only disappointment of the visit was the train ride, others have commented on it here. We bought a family ticket, (was charged extra for our 4 year old 3rd child). Also bought two senior tickets. We paid £26 in total so were stunned when after a couple of minutes the train stopped for 10 minutes then returned to the station. Ouch! I understand that these folks need to raise money and the work being done here by enthusiasts is fantastic. However, the 'light railway' is currently a short section of track. Hopefully, the railway will be successfully developed as planned to circle the old quarry. At the moment the view is limited to the rear of houses on Hesketh Lane.
