Visited as part of a private party with sole use of the railway for the day. The volunteers were more than welcoming gave us full access to the site and there collect of locomotives. The main running line was approx. 1/4 mile in length which we travelled upon many times with different combinations of loco's.

Went on 17.12.17. There were 4 adults and 2 children age 6 and 16 months old. We stood in a queue then were separated from sitting together as people decided not to put their children on their knees but to let them take up a seat. So we were all separated which didn’t matter as the steam train ride was all of 1 minute. Then off the train to stand in a queue to have a quick pic and a present then back on the train and back to the station the quickest £36 I’ve spent. Don’t bother paying this for the xmas Santa ride as the biggest waste of money EVER. Never going there again.

A small but perfectly formed attraction, the steam engines are beautiful. We spent a couple of hours looking at the engines and a Meccano railway display in one of the sheds. The only disappointment of the visit was the train ride, others have commented on it here. We bought a family ticket, (was charged extra for our 4 year old 3rd child). Also bought two senior tickets. We paid £26 in total so were stunned when after a couple of minutes the train stopped for 10 minutes then returned to the station. Ouch! I understand that these folks need to raise money and the work being done here by enthusiasts is fantastic. However, the 'light railway' is currently a short section of track. Hopefully, the railway will be successfully developed as planned to circle the old quarry. At the moment the view is limited to the rear of houses on Hesketh Lane.

A relatively small (in all senses) railway hidden away in a Lancashire village. A nice day out for a big kid.
