I stayed there last week for 2 nights on business, my partner stayed too and I was really surprised as we arrived early, the hotel were able to allocate a room there and then, fantastic. Rooms very spacious and although we faced the train stain, did not hear a thing.
We had a chat with the Duty Manager Wendy and were surprised to find out the hotel is 7 years old, what a great job they do of maintaining the appearance, looked great. From our check-in, which was excellent to our departure, all the staff were friendly and fantastic. Would highly recommend a stay here if you are visiting Manchester, hotel is in a good position to walk to the Shops and bars. See you again soon HIEX.

Room Tip: High floor is good

Breakfast was lovely with a large variety of choices. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room on the smaller side but it is an express hotel after all. 15 min walk to the city centre of Manchester. 24 hr shop next door very handy for midnight snacks!

Only reason gave it a 4 was that the bathroom could use some TLC. Grouting was missing from floor tiles, door could use a lick of paint etc

The HI Express on Oxford Road is conveniently located with lots of places to eat, drink and shop within walking distance. Check-in was friendly and efficient. Room was nicer than expected with a small sofa couch. TV was mostly British channels with limited selection for international guests. Free breakfast was adequate but I have had better selections at other Holiday Inn Express hotels in Europe. Good price, clean room, would recommend and stay again if in the area.

Stayed here on Friday 22nd September, and booked an accessible room and a carers room, which was booked using the normal Holiday Inn policy. We arrived early Friday evening and were allocated rooms on the tenth floor. When we entered the accessible room there was an overpowering smell of cigarette smoke, in an alleged non smoking room. Also we were unable to open the connecting door from the carers room,
And this is the reason I did not only give it one star, we were moved quite quickly to another accessible room on the third floor with a connecting door that worked.
But yet again, as we entered there was a slight musty smell, but we decided that this was better than the smell of cigarette smoke. We thought nothing of it at the time.
The next morning we found out exactly why there was a smell of must in the room, we had used the accessible shower, and my daughter was getting ready, in the bathroom when I felt water dripping on my head.
As I looked up, there was water pouring out of the ceiling, over the bed, the light fittings and the doorway to the bath.
When I called reception to tell them, they said they did not have anyone to deal with it, and I was told it was probably because someone was having a shower upstairs!!!! So my wife rang again, after we had to move our daughter from her accessible bathroom to our non accessible bathroom to ensure her safety.
Eventually someone from housekeeping knocked on the door, looked at it said and was shocked, then left.
We then went for breakfast which was okay, but seemed to be very organised with the staff in there.
Then check out time, when we mentioned that we were the room that had been leaking the person who seemed to be the lead receptionist told the lady doing our bill to give us 50% off, which is great, but there could at least been some apologies, not just dealt with in an offhand manor.
Does this mean this happens every morning in that room? Why have housekeeping not noticed this before, the pillows on the bed were soaking, someone could be in that bed when that happens again, with water coming into contact with electric sockets and fittings, which is not a good mix.

If you are booking an accessible room I would advise air freshener for the tenth floor, and avoid the third floor at all costs, especially if you do not have a carer who can move you quickly

I stayed 3 nights here and everything was 10 out of 10. The staff at Reception are friendly and heloful and the cleanliness of the room was excellent. Breakfast was adequate. I would have liked more fresh fruit. Location was good as by Uber you can get to city centre in 7 mins.
