A great place to show off historical Manchester. Lots of interest to most ages.
In an unexpected position.

The gothic style architecture is breathtaking. I love that this library was a gift from a wealthy business man who wanted to allow disadvantaged people to flourish. Amazing exihibits and lots to learn and discover.

Came here early one April morning with my university class to have a private session with one of the librarians on the theme of Cervantes and Don Quijote de La Mancha. It was my first time at the library (after 4 years at UoM, mind) and I was not disappointed! Everything was extremely clean and picturesque, and the librarian who held our session was extremely passionate about his job and was great in answering any questions we had.

This is a beautiful old building in the centre of Manchester, full of history and housing a library of rare books. Take some time and have a look round, the staff are marvellous and very knowledgable.
There is also a lovely cafe attached to the ground floor entrance which is worthy of a coffee break visit. And it's FREE.

Thank Linda R
