Description: 'A place to blur day with night over cocktails and the country's finest meat' Time Out Manchester. Located in a late Victorian courthouse on Deansgate, next door to Spinningfields, our aim is to serve the best steaks in Manchester. The interior is true to the building and features lots of reclaimed materials from the era, including parquet flooring from a (different) courthouse, panelling from Birmingham's Sandwell College and (well-cleaned) glazed bricks from a public lavatory in Liverpool. As at all of our restaurants there's £5 corkage every Monday and on Sundays there's the roast beef that Observer Food Monthly named 'Best Sunday Lunch in the UK'. Manchester is perfect for a wide range of events including award ceremonies, film premier parties and cocktail receptions. The restaurant can accommodate up to 150 people and also has a private dining room for up to 14 people. For information on private hire and events, please contact our events department.

The place was buzzing when we dined on Easter Sunday so the service was a bit slower than usual. Very friendly all the same.

Great ambience with authentic northern urban chic decor - ‘the tiles were reclaimed from a public lavatory in Liverpool’ . Who knew?!

Food was great though. Friends had steaks I had the Sunday roast. Desserts were delicious.

Just a tad on the pricey side...

Thank Moikul

Our first visit but it won’t be our last. From entering to leaving the service was amazing. The place is very simple but stunning with a very relaxing atmosphere. Drinks in the bar first huge selection of cocktails and specialist beers. Into the restaurant again shown to our table and made to feel very special. Grace our waitress was wonderful very knowledgeable about the menu and wine. She was very attentive without being in your face. The food was incredible best steak I’ve ever had. All in all a truly wonderful dining experience and all the staff we had contact with wee excellent. Would recommend and will most definitely be visiting again

Wonderful restaurant with a great atmosphere, extra great service... we had a really nice meal here. Try the Sunday Roast if you are interested in traditional English food. Great wine list and nice cocktails as well.

Yet again, another fabulous, really enjoyable experience last Sunday (25th March). Those who have read my previous reviews of the Hawksmoor will know I cannot rate it highly enough.. so I’m going to do something ‘different’

What makes an ‘eaterie’ good… that’s simple – the food
What makes an ‘eaterie’ great.. again, that quite simple – the food, ambiance of the place.
BUT…
What makes an ‘eaterie’ special..
For that, you will indeed have to take a trip to the Hawksmoor and experience it for yourself.
It’s the food.. it’s the ambiance.. its … the staff.
When all three come together like they do at the Hawksmoor, you will be hard put to find another place to equal the ‘good vibes’ this place gives out.
It doesn’t matter if you dine solo, with a friend, business colleague loved one or a party of 4-6-8-10 you are treated to the same relaxed professionalism of the staff, the same wonderful food from the kitchen at no extra charge.
On my travels I have only come across two other eateries that hits all three bases, in Malaysia and Australia.. but those other two places just miss out on a little something extra that the Hawksmoor gives its Customers.. and its on a Sunday only basis. The background music… its retro 60’s and 70’s with a few 80’s thrown in. Its not the usual night-time radio music either – you HAVE to be there to appreciate it. It give the whole experience that little extra.
I must tell you this.. across the dining area there was a table of five people. Mixed aged group, male and female. I think it was just Sunday lunch out with Family. But the eldest Lady (late 50’s maybe) was tapping her feet, gently swaying her shoulders to the beat and ‘mouth sounding’ to the music that was playing in the background – then she noticed I was doing the same and we smiled.. now THAT’S priceless.
(The music by the way was Booker T & The MG’s – ‘Green Onions’).
