La Bandera is a restaurant serves classic Spanish cuisine, with a wide selection of tapas. The décor is in colours of the Spanish flag and there are usually Spanish clients, including resident premiership footballers. We had the 7 dishes menu and were not disappointed – included Croquetas de Chiripon en su tinta (squid in its ink croquettes, served with home-made green alioli, Carrilleras de Ternera (slow cooked pigs’ cheeks), chicken, Pulpo a la Gallega (octopus), Rabas de Calamar (deep fried squid) and Parrillada de Verduras (grilled vegetables). The wine list is not extensive –we settled for a Serè 2016, a Spanish red from Montsant a white Rioja. The service was very attentive and would recommend this restaurant for anyone in a tapas and Rioja frame of mind.
