If you're in town for university-related business, Hotel de l'Ill is the hotel to stay at. It's a great little place regardless, situated right across the canal from old town and an easy 10-minute walk to the university.

Hotel de l'Ill is quieter than hotels on some of the main drags (students like to stay out late here and let you know what sort of night they've had at 4am), and is within a few minutes' walking from a fabulous array of attractions, restaurants, and pubs as well as art galleries and shops. There's a pharmacy around the corner down the street and a lovely little Turkish kebab shop even closer.

Rooms are cozy and clean and well maintained. Internet is very good, as is water pressure. Very comfortable beds.

More than anything, though, the staff is just fantastic -- all perpetually friendly and genuine, helpful, personable. Good sense of humor, even.

Great value for money, lovely people, great location, solid amenities, and clean, bright rooms. What more do you want?

Such a shoddy offer.

The place was under construction and patched up.

Noisy, dusty, dirty.

Rooms like shoeboxes, pillows unsubstantial, but at least the bed was comfortable.

Shower decent, but only enough hot water for one person.

Breakfast pitiful. Raw eggs, cold coffee & certainly not fresh baguettes. Perhaps they were fresh the day they bought them.

We did receive a warm & friendly welcome from the gentleman in reception but the ladies could go far better.

Not recommended.

This rather small family-owned hotel is located in Krutenau, a few hundred meters from the Cathedral and the city center but still a bit away from the tourist masses. It is both reasonably priced and reasonably comfortable - not the super fancy rooms but they include all the required facilities. Breakfast (included) is good too. A place for people who do not like the standard chain hotels.

I stayed here whilst on a business trip to Strasbourg. It's located near the river which means beautiful architecture. It is also located just a short walk from a tram stop which is ideal for getting about Strasbourg.

It is basic but the hotel was clean with a good wifi connection and was relatively quiet. I do advise having breakfast at the hotel in its quaint dining room with a lovely cuckoo clock!

The hotel is in a perfect position, very close to the centre of Strasbourg and to the university. The rooms are nice and extremely clean. The staff is friendly. It is a pity they do not have an elevator.
