The hotel has a good location with great views. Rooms are fairly big and modern, so everything fine. We were, however, unfortunate with some electricity failure which caused the room to be fully illuminated at 5:45 am - no way one could possibly continue to sleep. And no way we could put the light off. A call at the reception, but only "we can't do anything". The way the hotel dealt with the situation was very poor, not at all what you expect in a hotel of that class. Not that we expect much, but not even a personal email from the director shows a very poor attitude towards customer service and satisfaction. So if you plan to stay there, just hope that everything works - if not, don't expect that someone will take care of it.

Lovely clean small hotel in the old town of the Citadel. We just came off the boat and were only staying a night and heading down south so it was a perfect stopover. Not much to do in Bastia so no need to stay longer.
This hotel is clean and the receptionist was extremely welcoming and friendly. Didn’t eat in as went out. Very nice Roberto Cavali amenities in bathroom - nice surprise :)

Only challenge was getting there. It’s a 10 minute walk (and a little confusing on google maps) from the road / car park and we thought Parking was included but not.

Pack a light overnight bag as we saw many struggling through the citadel with bags and with google map in hand same as us .

Thanks for a lovely stay

Only wish we had more time to stay in Bastia, as Hotel Des Gouverneurs was truly outstanding. We booked the hotel sight unseen and with only a recommendation from a travel website. We were not disappointed. The hotel is located at the far end of the port in old town Bastia. As such, the views of the water were great, and the location exciting.

As far as the building itself, it has been fully refurbished with modern decor that is tasteful and very enjoyable. The staff was very helpful, especially with working through the trains schedule and location of the station. The only negative I can provide is the somewhat long walk to the hotel from the drive where the taxis will drop off and pick up. It is not the fault of the hotel, there simply is no means to drive a vehicle any closer. So...pack lighly.

I booked this hotel for my mother and her partner. It has beautiful rooms and good breakfast but at an extra charge.the views are incredible but be aware that the hotel is very difficult to find. The taxi drove around for 20 minutes trying to find how to get up to the hotel and its a very long way to walk with heavy luggage.Guests should be warned of this and offered a portage from the street level to the hotel when making a booking

Room Tip: Choose a room with view over harbour.

This hotel is very good but it has a couple of problems. Firstly when we arrived, there was no porterage for us and we had to drag our bags a very long way from the coach. This journey was up and down steps and at the end of a long day it was not good. The room was excellent, however the tea, coffee and water was extra !
This hotel had the same problem as a couple of others we found in Corsica in that it did not have a dining room for evening meal. The breakfast was fine. The staff were grumpy to say the least and we were told that she was "busy" when we tried to get a drink at the bar.The view across the harbour was stunning but I would still not go back.

Room Tip: Beware of the rooms which are at the street level and make sure you close your curtains
