I brought my friend along as a treat for her first visit to Paris. I had stumbled across this restaurant whilst looking on Tripadvisor.
Our reservation was for 7,30pm however when we arrived there was no customers. However we were made to feel welcome by the manager and it was nice and relaxed.
We went for the 5 course tasting menu and each course was beautifully presented and well executed. There was a slight disappointment with the beef which was not the best cut. It was cooked medium rare but was tough. The dessert was interesting, it was with a tomato sorbet, tomato confit, strawberries, green olives and olive oil. I wasn't convinced that it worked as a dessert and mentioned this to the manager.
However we had a really nice evening and it had a long walk back to our hotel afterwards to burn the food off.
Definitely worth checking out in Paris.

This was the second time we visited Restaurant Sourire. Not far, it is on a side street with no real foot traffic. This makes it a quiet and relaxing environment. The tables are well spaced with comfortable chairs. Now to the food. We had the tasting menu which was about five courses. We could see everything being freshly prepared for each customer with no predone assembly line food. All was absolutely fresh. I especially liked the mixture of textures with crunchy and smooth in several dishes. Food complex as well as tasty with great sauces and some unexpected flavors. A turnip side dish was served with the fish course I usually do not like turnips but this was great. The duck breast was succulent with perfect crispy skin. Not overdone. The dessert was wild strawberries with a custard. Perfectly done and constructed just before bringing to the table so not mushy. Service was prompt and pleasant. Hot night so we had water bottle on the table refilled multiple times. Visit this charming, quiet restaurant and you will want to go back for the food, service, and atmosphere.

We just finished a truly outstanding meal here. The young chef (just 26) is extremely talented. To start, we had a langoustine sashimi with cantaloupe. Our mains were a home made tagliolini stuffed with cheese in a delicious sauce with chanterelles and hazelnuts, and a beautifully done filet of sea bass accompanied by a perfect foam, baby peas and baby limas and a frico. The compound butter with herbs is house made and wonderful. Dessert was a tomato sorbet with strawberries, olives, pistachios, almond crumble enclosed with a narrow strip of Tuileries. So inventive and delicious!

We were in London for my husband’s birthday and we went to Sourire for a birthday lunch celebration. Yes, Sourire is in Paris in a ‘back’ arrondissement. Anything wrong with that? Take the Eurostar to the Metro and walk a few blocks. Anything wrong with that? Even if you add the travel to the cost of the meal it is well worth it.
The menu is seasonal so explaining each dish is not really helpful -- it was all delicious. It is a not so simple not too casual restaurant with wonderfully friendly service and a kitchen staff that surely knows their way around food. Even for Paris.
Our smiles lasted through the afternoon, back on the Metro, back on the Eurostar, back to London, back to the tube, our hotel, LHR, an Uber to our car and a 3 hour drive back to our house.
Seek it out!
