We went to Le Caulaincourt because of the excellent rating on TripAdvisor and managed to make a reservation (recommended) while we were in Paris. Our expectations were high, but they were still able to exceed them. When we got the menu we saw the irregular and exciting combinations in all dishes, especially the poached egg with butternut and coffee. The chef combined all these different flavours so perfectly, it made for a transcendental experience. With the excellent service of the hostess and the lovely wine, it made the evening at Le Caulaincourt the highlight of our trip to Paris! Next time, we will definitely plan another evening at this amazing restaurant again.

So in general I do trust trip advisor to guide me to some of the finest restaurants in the world. BUT, this time the reviews were wrong. So I thought, well because I don't know what to order because I do not understand the French Language we will do a brunch ! That way we'll be able to look and taste a whole lot of foods from this #1 restaurant from 15,000 in Paris ! Wow was I ever wrong ! You got to choose from 2 options ! This was not even close to a brunch ! The entire meal including desert was 5 food items and as you know, very small portions. Tasty, I would rate the food a 7 from 10. The experience itself, same, but brunch a zero !!

The food was great and the prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food served. The staff is friendly as well. Cute little venue. I enjoy the fact that the menu entails very few meal options meaning they are homemade. The lemon pie dessert was fantastic.

We booked a table tempted by other great reviews and to make our outing in Paris extra special. We were expecting a place with a funky vibe and an informal feel to it. But perhaps our expetations were set too high; the choice was scarce, husband’s lamb extremely chewy and the interior tacky and tired looking. The food (let alone the lamb) was ok, but we had eaten much better for the price. On the other hand, the service was good, the food beautifully presented and they had the most amazing bread, which saved us from leaving hungry.

Thank Kasia H
