Despite the noise, often long waits to get in, and the fact you will likely not hear a word of French - this is a divine spot: notably for those who cannot get into the main restaurant across the street. (Or who might wish a more tapas-oriented meal with friends.)

Ideal to go with three or four people, and make your way through much of the menu, sharing along the way.

An excellent wine list from the lower end to nice treats, all quite carefully selected.

Let me just get the negative out of the way, since it is relatively insignificant and seasonal. We dined at Frenchie's on one of those 30+C in Paris days and, while it cooled down somewhat outside by the time we sat for dinner, it was still very-very warm inside the restaurant and the air conditioning was either non-existent or not functioning. And so, we were too warm and somewhat grumpy.

But, the space is very attractive with interesting brass and glass lighting and nicely arranged square, rectangular, and a round table. Frenchie's seats only 28 guests at a time, so it is very small and one needs to be creative in where to place one's purse and camera.

A view out the window is Frenchie's wine bar with an attractive dark wood window and door; a barrel with a vase filled with sunflowers on top of it, and a motorbike parked against the curb. If someone would show me this photo and ask to guess where such scene was taken, I would know that it was Paris. The scene is that quintessential Paris. But, I digress here from the accolades due to the chef..

What comes out of the kitchen is fantastic and as long as we kept our eyes on those (gorgeous, ceramic, in different shades of blue) plates, it was almost possible to ignore the heat.

The amuse bouche was feta cheese foam with watermelon, cucumber and dill salad, and it was sublime! My first was equally sublime veal tartar. Husband chose the foie gras, which was sort of like a cake with layers of foie gras and pear aspic. The dish was phenomenal! I was eyeing the rack of lamb but decided to pair my meat first with the Dorade fish second, again, perfectly executed with crispy and delicious skin, resting on top of fresh beans, sprouts, and cherry tomato. Husband had the guinea fowl with chanterelle mushrooms and cubed potato. We both picked the fruit tart with a dollop of green tea sorbet and passion fruit mouse.

Despite the fantastic meal, we were happy to leave and step out onto the cooler streets of Paris, but I could certainly envision lingering on for another hour, sipping a digestive. We hope to return and do just that!

There were six friends for dinner. We were taken to an upstairs table. The service was excellent. The servers were very friendly and had no trouble with English. They were very helpful. The menu was full of wonderful sounding choices. All in all it was a memorable night.

Qued up at 6.50 to grab a table at Frenchies when it opened at 7, we were not the only ones and the tiny restaurant was soon packed. A real French bistro feel, we enjoyed small portions of winkles and crab mousse with wine and beer, a very good standard of food. Little disappointed being British and holidaying in Paris to find that all the cheeses on the menu bar one were British rather then French! However seems very characteristic of Frenchies to usurp expectations of Parisian food. Modern and expensive all in all a great experience.
