The heat, the heat! Very convenient location and shuttle to/from the airport. As expected, small rooms/bathrooms and narrow staircase but adequate. Reading other reviews I thought the comments regarding the breakfast might have been exaggerated but they are not...I see their point of view. Stayed for 8 days so I believe I can provide accurate feedback. Do NOT stay there during warmer months if you expect adequate air conditioning or just plan on having a fan shipped there for your stay to make it bearable. We were told every day they only needed to hit some type of "re-set" on the a/c unit to get it working but the re-set never changed the air temp. Then we were told a repairman had been called but we never felt a change in temp and any questions about the status of the repair were met with evasive answers. Then we were told to open a window but the indoor air was just as hot as the outdoor air AND the front desk person took constant smoke breaks so we had the pleasure of smelling second hand smoke all night long AND our room and clothes then reeked of cigarettes. Restful nights were not to be had due to the heat! Just when we believe this might be a one-time issue with the a/c that lasted 8 days that also happened to occur during our stay we learn from certain tour operators that is not the case...they are always made aware of heat issues at this location! AND during breakfast, we learn from others at the hotel they have experienced the same problem and had to change rooms with no a/c improvement and they had been staying at the hotel the whole week prior to our arrival. So, it's pretty easy to believe the tour operators that lack of adequate a/c is a common issue for this hotel. Lack = NONE.

Room Tip: Even numbered rooms are the superior rooms. You need to carry luggage up a narrow winding staircase...

We stayed at this hotel for a week and it was great. The staff was very kind and were happy to suggest restaurants and recommend spots to visit as we went to different parts of Paris. The location was fantastic and we loved being close to the river and Notre Dame. The room was very clean and comfortable.
We had booked the shuttle to and from the airport but our arriving flight was delayed so the shuttle driver was not there to meet us. It would have been nice if we got an e mail to let us know. When I called the hotel they told us to take a cab and how much it would cost. The return trip to the airport was early to meet us and we got to the airport on plenty of time.
The location is the best and we enjoyed eating dinner at the cafes around the corner and walking around the city from this location. Highly recommend!
We will stay at this hotel again and had a wonderful stay.

Stayed here three years ago and loved the hotel, location and staff. This visit I noted a completely different staff and who appeared indifferent to the guests. As reported on in other Trip Advisor reviews the air conditioning was not working and, since the unit was on ground floor, opening a window was not an option due to street noise and the risk of an unwanted quest. Complaints to the staff was met with indifference as the air conditioner was not repaired during out four night stay. There are several other hotels in this area and will not say at this hotel again.

Dear Sir. Thank you for your comment. I understand your point but I'd like to add a few comments. Staff is the same for 20 years at least - Denis at the desk works for 25 years, Bernard 20 years, Rosa 25 years and the two night guys for more than 20 years as well. Some of them may have been on vacation when you stayed with us but most of them were here. The other comments will show our future guests that we really care about our guests. We are a family owned boutique hotel and most of our guests are returning customers. We faced a problem these past weeks with our airco maintenance guy. He may have thought that this was not urgent since the outside temperature was less than 20 degrees (70 degrees F) and you were the only one to complain about the temperature. As a consequence of the two last comments, we are seriously considering working with a new maintenance company and are waiting for a quotation for a completely new airso system. Since you came 3 years ago, I hope you noticed the change in the quality of the sheets, cover beds, towels - we now use 4 star hotels quality - the quality of the amenities that we provide in the rooms that also improved. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Upon arriving via a very wonderful and efficient shuttle, we were greeted by a very odd person called Bernard. We were tired and wanted to get settled. Bernard proceeds to take about 30 minutes to get us checked in !!! He makes fun of guests as they walked through the lobby - very strange and scary person. Our room was on the first floor and according to the listing we responded to , was suppose to have air-conditioning. We were shown the air-conditioner controls and we assumed that it worked. The room was very warm when we entered but we assumed it was because it had been closed up. We unpacked and set out to explore Paris. Upon returning we tried to cool down the room to no avail. We could not leave the windows open as we were ground floor and anyone could climb over a 3 foot plexiglass guard on the window. Needless to say - we did not sleep well at all. The next morning I informed Bernard about the air conditioning not working. He stood up - made a dramatic performance of walking to the lobby air conditioner control - slapped the control a few times and said, " I know nothing about fixing air conditioners!" I asked him if he could call to have someone fix it and he said he would. Four hours later he still had not called and obviously he never did! Upon returning to the USA we discovered other people had complained about no air a month before we arrived! They knew it was not working when we checked in and did absolutely nothing to remedy the situation. I am 72 years old and have never been treated so badly by any hotel in my life! Because of the situation I had what we call "prickly heat" all over my body. I actually dreaded returning to our room each evening because it was hotter inside our room than outside. Deplorable condition! Ruined my vacation but stuck it out because this trip was for my daughter and granddaughter. I will never stay there again because of the terrible PR shown to us. If you advertise having "air" and it breaks down - then at least inform us of the situation so we have a choice of staying or leaving. Not being told the truth I cannot abide. Now for the plus side of our stay. Location was fantastic with restaurants and sights so close. The shuttle service was on time both ways and the drivers were awesome. Shower in our room was wonderful but using it made our room hotter. The Parisians were so friendly and helpful everywhere we went outside the hotel. Love Paris but have bad taste in my mouth from the stay here.

Room Tip: obviously do not take a ground floor room in case the air goes out! At least on upper floors you ca...

THis is a very Quaint hotel in an historic building. One of the most unique configurations I have ever seen, but definitely not for anyone with a handicap, as the elevator stops between floors. You have several steps to go up or down from the elevator to the rooms. No doubt the elevator (which will only fit two people) was added in long after the hotel was built. The rooms were very nice and comfortable (but small by modern standards). The rooms were very clean and we found the bed very comfortable (on the firm side). I noticed a previous review complained about being hot, but there was a thermostat in out room that ran an air conditioner making the room temperature perfect for our desires. The staff were friendly and accommodating and booked tours for us. We had friends who recommended this hotel to us and I am sure glad they did. The location is perfect, in a quaint neighborhood and just a short walk to Notre Dame.
