This is a good basic hotel very well located for Eurostar. The room was clean and well-presented and the bed was comfortable. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was good with good choice. Good value all round.

You feel welcomed straight away by the reception staff who spoke excellent English. They are very knowledgable on local attractions and metro/bus routes. Our room was lovely with a sweet little balcony, lovely bathroom with shower, hairdryer, towels etc. There is also a safe in the room and you can request extra pillows etc. Breakfast downstairs was your normal continental of cereals, pastry’s, yoghurts etc and was very lovely. Straight outside the hotel is a metro station and bus routes, from here you can get to Eiffel Tower, Louvre, catacombs within half an hour, there are many local affordable places to eat and fast food places within minutes of walking. Our room was opposite the nord train station but noise wasn’t an issue at all. Overall a very happy enjoyable stay.

I first stayed in New Hotel with my wife and two pre-teens in 1999. We were delighted with the air conditioning (it was August and hot), and the incredible convenience to Gare du Nord. My kids also loved the brasseries (ten feet away from the front entry), with great steak pomme frites. I have since stayed there with every visit to Paris... probably seven or eight times. You can't beat the convenience with the trains, including the Eurostar to/from London. It's also an easy ten euro ride from the CDG airport. The continental breakfast is fine, too (although it took my kids a bit of adjusting to get used to the fare: croissant, meat, and cheese, with O.J.). Benjamin (and all staff) at the front desk speak fine English, too. All in all, I enjoy a luxury hotel as much as the next fellow, but combining the price with the incredible convenience to Gare du Nord (five steps out the front door to the below-ground walkway entrance), New Hotel is unmatched. (P.S. I rate it "quiet" because the interior of the hotel is pretty quiet. The street outside is a cacaphony, but with A.C., you'd never know it).

Great location with good, clean rooms and a great bed. Friendly staff and just beautiful staircases. The only downside was the sluggish wifi, which didn’t;t really work in the dining room. But apart from that, all good. I’ll be looking for this as a first option next time I need to stay close to the Gare du Nord.

If you need a budget hotel close to Gare du Nord then you couldn't do much better, it's right across the street from the station and couldn't be more convenient for Eurostar. This is after all a 2 star hotel. The room was clean but very small and we had to have the light on even during the day as the only view from the window was a wall. We only stayed one night so it suited our needs The staff were friendly. The area around is a bit shady but the restaurants around are pretty good and reasonably priced for Paris. For the price and for one night only we would stay again.
