Owner description: The 9th arrondissement contains many places of cultural, historical, and architectural interest, including the Palais Garnier, home to the Paris Opera, Boulevard Haussmann and its large department stores of Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. Along with the 2nd and 8th arrondissements, it hosts one of the business centers of Paris, located around the Opéra.

why go?
because its the center of Paris, a melting pot: at the same time popular, hipster, business, conventional, tourist, trendy, typical, residential young, old, poor, rich, cool, old fashioned, jewish, muslim, catholic...
I think this is Paris in all its colors

Probably the busiest of arrondisements, it has the Opera House (Palais Garnier) and all surrounding areas, up to boulevard Haussmann and the 2 big department t stores, Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. The square in front of the Opera House has there metro lines criss crossing, the 3,7 and 8, not to mention many more in the district. Stretches to Grands Boulevard and up to St. George area. It is a large area and with many sights, restaurants, bars, hotels, the office for hop on hop off busses and departing points.

My favourite thing to do in the 9th Arrondissement is to shop - and you can’t go wrong here with Galeries Lafayette, the biggest store I’ve ever seen, along with a few other favourites including H&M and C&A. Printemps and a variety of other stores are also here.

My only tip - avoid the area after Christmas because it was overflowing with people and cars today.

Great area to visit and make some shopping. Lots of bright lights and people! Couldn't enter the Opera

This area has lots going on, has several convenient buses taking you into the main city area as well as many metro stations. It is one of the best locations to stay in Paris and is a short walk to many attractions on the outskirts of the 9th arrondissement bordering others.

Gorgeous street scapes like apartments on the main streets are lovely (see pic) or the Tivoli building front (see pic), one of the most famous Parisian restaurants - Chartier (see pic) - is located here too.

You've got Roman churches (see pic), monuments (see pics), Place St George (see pic), tiny cobblestoned streets (see pic) and cute small villages with good restaurants with a local welcoming warmth minus the tourist prices. Village artists paint in the square (see pic), stunning church (Eglise de la Trinité) and of course shopping. The shopping district is here with blocks of exactly that - shops, department stores, shoe warehouses etc (see pic).
