This place closed for a while in 2015 with the demise of the previous patron. It has reopened under the attention of the very personable new owner, Vincent - and we were delighted to be able to return to what was always our first choice of hotel in Narbonne. For a two-star- rated hotel, it is very good indeed, in a relatively quiet side street right in the heart of this attractive town. We had a huge comfortable bed, private ablutions (a loo that was separate from the bathroom), internet connection,TV and all necessary basics. Some people are only happy with four or five star palaces with all the bells and whistles - and pay accordingly. We prefer small, family-owned places in the vernacular style and this is a perfect example. Perhaps Catherine C confused this place with another by the same name?

Room Tip: No lift, but wide stairs and an offer of porterage.

I can't believe anyone gave this place a good review. There was no one there when we arrived which we expected but we did not expect to be directed up 4 flights of steps to the attic. It had been partitioned into bunk rooms under the eaves, some of which had beds, some were full of storage junk. The bathroom door had been ripped off, the sink was leaking and there were holes in the walls. Of course no towels or soap. It looked like a slum apartment with a bad landlord. I can't believe they were going to charge 80 euros for that! The other room was on a lower floor and was clean and simple but the AC fan was not working. We ran out to find another hotel. When the clerk finally arrived at 5 pm, he said " didn't my manager contact you?". I'm not sure how knowing about the attic slum in advance would have made it ok. To their credit, they did give us a refund.

It's in a side street close to the canal promenade with its many cafes & restaurants; the food market; and the historic centre.
The hotel decor is basic but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Mine had a double and a single bed, ensuite shower room with separate WC, a/c and TV. Not sure about wifi because I used my cell phone as data roaming charges have been abolished. There was a complimentary bottle of water (large) in the fridge.
The main street door is on a security lock for which guests are given the combination and can come & go as they please. You get the combination when you book so you can get in if the reception desk is not staffed when you arrive. Your key and instructions will be in an envelope on the desk (in English for visitors from the UK).
The desk is manned to cope with normal arrivals & departures. The staff speak English and are very helpful.
Breakfast is available but I didn't sample it.

This was a charming place with a wonderful owner who worked so hard to make our stay memorable. He was a great guy to talk to and so helpful. When we left our taxi failed to come and he just left the hotel and drove us and refused to accept any compensation.

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights and it was just fine. Breakfast is delicious and of a very good quality, with local products.
Vincent is a very nice person, all you can expect from someone managing a hotel. The location is really quiet and the building does need some refurbishing, which seems to be planned to be done some time in the future.
