The vegetables are the stars of the show. The friendly chatty owner runs this simple canteen style eaterie offering just a handful of mains and a couple of desserts. Choose perhaps from lamb, salmon or pork, well cooked and served in a bowl of the freshest, crunchiest, tastiest vegetables and herbs I have eaten for a long time, along with a delicious sauce.
Simple, original and very effective. Everyone else follows the formula of apero, starter, main, desert, wine, bread, water, coffee, bla, bla bla.
This place says "this is what I can do really well and this is it." Forget the formula and eat this way. Excellent. Book.

We visited Le Melting Pot at lunchtime on Monday, 2nd October on our return journey to Ireland. Little did we expect the delightful experience that was to happen as we stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant. The welcome we received from the maitre d' was delightful, warm and friendly. We instantly felt relaxed in the simple surroundings. The food (both of us had the Thai green curry au salmon for main course) was truly amazing and delicious....to die for! For dessert we both had the most magnificent cheese cake with carmelised bananas which was mouth-watering. All washed down with a bottle of very affordable but very pleasant white wine. We look forward to our next visit to Cherbourg when we will most definitely return to this simply delightful restaurant.

We dined here on our last night in Cherbourg before catching the ferry home. Despite the rain outside the owner made us very welcome despite the restaurant being very busy. He found space for us by the window to eat and then moved us to a bigger table when it became available. The food was delicious and a nice change after two weeks of traditional French fare. My lamb curry was very tender and the chef did a very nice veggie curry for my partner. Desserts were also very good.

The owner (sorry but I didn't get his name!)was very friendly and it was nice to have a conversation with him at the end of the evening when he was closing up for the night. A very interesting and friendly gentleman.
I would certainly recommend this restaurant as it offers something different, great food and warm hospitality.

What a find! Although a small restaurant of about 20 covers, this place certainly ticks all the boxes. The multilingual host/chef greets you like a long lost friend and delivers lovely food with a twist from all over the world.
Very reasonable too, 2 courses and a nice bottle of red for less than €60, what's not to like?
Will definitely be back!
