We just stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking around the old streets in Avignon. It's hidden between two buildings and has lots of quirky stuff hanging from the ceiling.
When we first saw it, the tables and chairs looked a little bit less 'posh' than other restaurants in the area. Also, the man and woman who own the restaurant were sitting down drinking Heineken. We sat down and the tables were dusty and the man came to wipe them down.
So our first impressions were "what's going on here...is it too late to get up and leave?"
I am so glad I didn't because this was BY FAR, the best meal I've had in a very long time. It was absolutely fantastic. Hands down, amazing.
We were given some bread with a homemade dip which was garlic, olives and parsley. It was served in really nice crockery and everything was 'higgeldy piggeldy' which I really like.
I had scallops and my partner had lasagne. They were both fresh and absolutely amazing. I can't stress this enough. You have to go here!
Quite expensive at €30 for a bottle compared to other places we'd been
Was quite expensive compared to other places we'd eaten.
Really nice man who couldn't speak much english so we were able to practice our limited french which was very nice.
This was an experience and an amazing place to eat. I would definitely come back here again and bring my family/friends. I will also be recommending this restaurant to anyone who says they're going to Avignon for a visit.
