We just stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking around the old streets in Avignon. It's hidden between two buildings and has lots of quirky stuff hanging from the ceiling.

When we first saw it, the tables and chairs looked a little bit less 'posh' than other restaurants in the area. Also, the man and woman who own the restaurant were sitting down drinking Heineken. We sat down and the tables were dusty and the man came to wipe them down.

So our first impressions were "what's going on here...is it too late to get up and leave?"

I am so glad I didn't because this was BY FAR, the best meal I've had in a very long time. It was absolutely fantastic. Hands down, amazing.

We were given some bread with a homemade dip which was garlic, olives and parsley. It was served in really nice crockery and everything was 'higgeldy piggeldy' which I really like.

I had scallops and my partner had lasagne. They were both fresh and absolutely amazing. I can't stress this enough. You have to go here!

Quite expensive at €30 for a bottle compared to other places we'd been

€19 Lasagne
€25 Scallops
€30 Wine

Was quite expensive compared to other places we'd eaten.

Fantastic coffee.

Really nice man who couldn't speak much english so we were able to practice our limited french which was very nice.

This was an experience and an amazing place to eat. I would definitely come back here again and bring my family/friends. I will also be recommending this restaurant to anyone who says they're going to Avignon for a visit.

If you are in Avignon you owe it to yourself to visit this wonderful establishment. Georges and Marie are a husband and wife duo who are passionate about what they do and it shows in everything from how they treat their customers, to the decor, to the presentation of their dishes. This was quite simply the best meal we've had in two weeks of traveling across France. La Cuisine du Dimanche serves locally produced, seasonally fresh ingredients, creating original dishes that still pay tribute to traditional Provence cuisine. Skip the giant menu's of the crowded squares and make your way to this enchanting hidden gem.

Very authentic and friendly food and experience. After 2 weeks in France, this was the first dinner we had that was loaded with vegetables, fresh from the market the same day! The quality of the food was above and beyond, and while we spoke limited French were able to communicate with the restaurant owners in a truly genuine way. Highly recommended - especially for lovers of produce!

A great little restaurant serving up a mix of delicious provencal and other fusion dishes. Casual, rustic and good fun.

The flavours were very unusual and the decoration is definitely different and fun. Only negative is that the service is quite rude.
