While its neighboring restaurants are always full, this place will rarely require a reservation. The escargots came half hot and the other half warm, a typical Provençal dish of vegetables and cheese was unbalanced - too much cheese and too little vegetables. And finally desert was nothing to write home about. There are cheaper and tastier options everywhere.

We enjoyed our visit here recently for dinner. The restaurant looked very inviting, with a nice, but short menu, which suited us both. Both the waiter and staff were very friendly, although with limited English, which matched with our limited French, proved interesting. However we managed well enough!
We went for fixed price menu, all three course were delicious. We were lucky enough to find a rose wine from the winery that we had visited that afternoon, so we we ordered that. It was very drinkable.
We dined there on our last night in Avignon, but if we were in the area again, we would certainly return.

One of the few good restaurants in this area that opens on a Sunday night. Good choice on any day though. We had been here in previous years and felt that the menu had improved in its range. Also one of the few we went to in Avignon that had adapted for the very warm weather. Had a beautiful entree of tri coloured tomatoes topped with a lovely refreshing smoked salmon and crepe fraiche mouse. Very nice people

My wife and I stopped by for lunch there because the place my wife had in mind was closed on Sunday......This turned out to be fortunate for us......We were warmly greeted and seated in a small, intimate setting.....We each ordered a large salad with salmon in a puff pastry shell. We added a carafe of Lirac rose....those choices were terrific---fresh, small tomatoes, greens, fennel, walnuts and garlic in a light vinaigrette. The baguette was one of our better ones and helped to finish off the vinaigrette. The plat also came with dessert, so we chose a wonderful fruit tart/compote with 3 fruit sorbets....Wonderful meal, served nicely. for under 50 euros.....Highly recommended.

There was a lot to like about Le Brigadier du Theatre; it was hard to not give them 5 stars. It was recommended by our Hotel and obviously the restaurant had befriended the locals because although small, it filled very quickly. A booking is certainly recommended. The restaurant is a short walk from Place du l'Horloge. Little English appeared to be spoken and even with our lack of French it was very easy to communicate; the wait staff were most obliging. The duck was recommended and a wine from Gigondas suggested as a good accompaniment; both were excellent. The duck was among the best I had even tasted, perfectly cooked and very flavoursome. The desserts were a great end to an excellent meal. Considering the quality of the food and wine the meal was not expensive.
