We literally stumbled cross this small restaurant only open for lunch after taking a wrong turn in the narrow streets of old Grasse. What a little gem. We took the only remaining table and were soon served with drinks and a simple menu card. Fast service, home cooked food (2x calamari, veal casserole and a chicken and frites menu enfant) plus some nice fresh desserts and 3x pression, all for 66 EUR for 4) was a pleasant way to spend lunchtime. Don't go here expecting to find haute cuisine but if you want a homely lunch with plain food and are on a 'last days of the holiday economy drive' this is perhaps better value than the more visible restaurants in the main pedestrian areas.

I was on my way to visit the perfume shops and came across this cozy restaurant. The staff is very friend. They don't have English menu and the owner was very patient to explain each dish to me in English. In the end I decided to try the local Grasse dish Fassum. It's very special, but bit salty to my taste.

Given the TA reviews we booked just in case, given the restaurant is small. We received a very warm welcome and the waitress (Owner?) was most helpful regarding the menu. Chose the local specialty - fish with vegetables - and the steak with fried potatoes. Very underwhelming in both cases; the fish was somewhat dry and the vegetables were bland and could not be helped even with the aioli!. The steak was ordered as medium - but as expected arrived medium/rare (which was fine) - but the quality was poor, lots of sinew and gristle (1/4 of each steak ordered; so not a one off). The fried potatoes were laced with far too much black pepper, and the stuffed courgette pieces were really overpowered with garlic. The desserts were an improvement, albeit the pannacotta was far too stiff (presented in a dish rather than turned out - far too much gelatin (so not a wobble in sight and not the delicacy it should be!), but the orange tart/cake was the star - really nice.

The restaurant was full despite being mid week lunch time service, and we were the only Brits among the French locals. The latter is usually a sign that the food (and /or price) is good, but (to us) this local fare did not live up to the TA billing. Sorry.....

A quiche should have a crispy bottom. This was soaked starch. Ordered fish. Could not eat 'hospital food' in France. No reason for poor quality and prep. Most French restaurants change menu to effect what's fresh. This restaurant has a yellow paged, sticky fingers, old menu that doesn't alter. Very disappointing. No patio only indoors. Better alternatives.

We visited after reading positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Fixed price lunch menu was delicious and good value. I had the Assiette Provencale...a greatest hits of local dishes, which was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Around 20 euros per head for 2 courses and a drink. Would recommend.
