First of all, excellent location - you are right across the street from the beach / Promenade. Walking distance to many of the tourist sites.

For an upscale hotel within the Starwood portfolio, this hotel is unfortunately not reflecting the pricing.

Our first night was spent in a regular room. Everything in the room screamed Best Western or worse. The bathtub had yellow rusty residue. The room was very dated, 1980's, 1990s at best. The shower coming out the shower head had very weak water pressure.

Our 2nd and 3rd night was in a deluxe room. We had sliding doors that open and you can hear and feel the breeze from the sea (not really a terrace since you cannot sit outside and almost a little scary since the concrete slab is not more than 2 feet wide). The rooms in deluxe category are great improved from their classic.

All that said, the staff was helpful and attentive and made our stay pleasant. The location was great. If I had to come back again, this hotel would be an option but would only be able to do so if I can book the deluxe rooms.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the classic rooms - you are not getting what you're paying for.

Dear ManhattanTravelers,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Trip Advisor in regards to your recent stay with us.

We are happy to hear your nice findings on our location which is indeed ideal, nearby all the main sites and right opposite the beach.

We are happy to hear that you found the Deluxe room more to your taste than the Classic room.
We noticed that you found the French balcony too small in the Deluxe room, allow us to inform you that we also have Executive rooms on the upper floors with large terrace offering table and chairs and sun loungers.

We are delighted that you found our staff to be helpful and attentive; it is always great to hear as guest satisfaction is our key priority and we will definitely share your comments with the entire team.

We certainly hope to have the chance to host you again the next time your travels bring you to Nice.

Best regards

Great stop for a drink watching the planes come in and out of nice airport , lovely cheerful waiting staff and well worth a visit . You can eat on the terrace and the food looked delicious . There is also a rooftop pool for guests of the hotel . I'll let the photo talk for itself .

We were greeted by Ann at the front desk, she is from Sweden...and absolutely wonderful. The room was not ready when we arrived, but it was prior to 3:00 checkin so I'm not complaining! The bell boys were so punctual, respectful and they made us feel comfortable leaving our bags and hitting the city of nice. Came back at 3 to find we had been upgraded to the executive suite and it had the most amazing corner view of the ocean. Highly recommend being as high up as possible, the traffic from the street can get loud. The hotel help were so nice and all the ppl that told us French ppl were rude were wrong! Yes, there are a few things that could be updated like paint on the walls and carpet, but all in all we really enjoyed it! Thank you for making the experience great for us!

Nice hotel on the promenade d'anglais. We took a room with and one without seaview and we were very glad with the service. The breakfast is amazing and everything is close by, such as shopping, the beach and the historic centre of Nice.

I don't understand how this is a Starwood Category 5 hotel. It must be because of the location. The lobby is the only nice part of the hotel. The hallways and rooms are dark, musty, and old. Extremely outdated and not what I would consider "nice" at all.

The don't supply beach towels, so if you want to lay at the beach you must bring your own or buy your own at one of the shops nearby (15-20 euros).

The rooftop pool is a joke. The hotel pictures make it look nice, but it's just a pool surrounded by a glass fence. There are no lounge chairs or any room to sit around the pool. So, don't plan to do any pool lounging at this hotel.

The ONLY good thing about this hotel is the location - central to restaurants, near the beach, and a 10-15 minute walk to Old Town.

Dear Leah P,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at the Le Méridien Nice with the Trip Advisor community.

We are happy that you enjoyed both our lobby and location.

We take good notice of the several points that did not meet your expectations.
We are very sorry our current appearance did not appeal to you.
We strive to maintain the highest standards, not only in service, but also with regards to maintaining the overall look and feel of the hotel.
Unfortunately, this sometimes requires essential renovations in our guest areas.
We are currently doing maintenance works in all rooms and hallways.

The pool and surrounding chairs are indeed in a limited space. However, as the majority of our clients wish to benefit from the view either whilst dining at our Roof Top restaurant or whilst relaxing for drinks in the lounge area, we have privileged this area.

Thank you again for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us.

We hope to have the chance to host you again the next time you are in the city to regain your confidence in our hotel.

Best regards
